Car Audio

So I just got a new subwoofer system in my 2007 Focus, and I began to wonder... who else has car audio they've installed other than what came stock in their vehicle?

I just got this setup-

-Subthump stealth side enclosure from subthump.com.
-400W MTX 12" subwoofer
-450W MTX amplifier

This was inside when I was mounting the sub to the box:

The MTX grill on the amp lights up red at night, pretty cool:

And it's all in this:

I love how the box fits right into the side of the trunk, allowing me to keep most of my trunk space. This system bangs. I love it. Here's some previous setups I've had in this same car:

Two Kicker 12"s with 1100W Sony amp:

Two Pyramid 8"s in slim truck MTX boxes (the original MTX subs were busted, I got these from my gf's dad, he said they were from 1987), with a 500W Legacy amp:

Lol, my noobish attempt of having a 12" Sony sub in there as well (I quickly removed it, sounded like shit):

I also have an aftermarket Sony headunit with AUX input for my iPhone to play iTunes. XM Radio as well:

So does anyone else have any cool car audio stuff?

I installed an after market deck, and my speakers in my car. I have a pair of 6x9 Alpine Type R's in the back and a pair of component Kenwoods in the front, with a Sony deck. Haha. I don't really care about matching up brands, I just like what sounds good and works. I'm gonna buy an amp soon maybe a 10" sub.

Hey man, that's what it's all about- what works. I'm not too big on matching either. I knew I wanted an MTX sub, and it just happened to work out perfect with the amp. I wasn't particularly looking for an MTX one. What kind of sub setup you looking at getting?

Yeah definitely. A lot of audiophiles swear matching the brands makes a difference, but I really couldn't care less. I'm not too sure which subs to get, but I was looking at a Polk PA660 amp.

What gauge wire are you running from the battery to the amp?

i found two 8" mtx thunderstorm subs (in very good condition) in the trunk of a car at the junkyard and bought them for $10. i finally got around to building a box for them and now i need to put them in my car along with the 300W amp i have. they sound great for small subs.

I have 2 10" Bazooka's in a sealed box with a Bazooka 300W amp. It's not much, but in a tiny little Nissan Sentra, it's perfect. To this day I still have never heard a system that sounds better, sealed boxes are the only way to go.

I have a 10in sub in my s-10 . Custom built box and wrapped it to match. If I can get the camera working I'll snap some pics. Sounds good in my truck. Can bump to some rap if I want and sounds like a good stereo . Not overbearing bass on the rock which is good.

I put this deck in my car (well, someone else did, but still) about a year ago. Still love it.

I like how clean the new subs are fit into your trunk chris.

In my Saab I replaced the stock deck with a Pioneer Premier DEH P980BT, and bought the Pioneer Ipod hookup for it which allows me to run the menus through the deck.
All the stock speakers were replaced with 5" and 6.5" Alpine Type R Speakers
I have 2 12" Alpine Type R SWR 1242D Subwoofers which are rated at 500rms each but i am currently over pushing at 750RMS each.
My amp is a Hifonics Brutus 1606D which i have the subwoofers wired down to 1ohm on, this amp is an absolute champ right before Hifonics went down the poop shoot with MaxxSonix or whatever it is.

Overall my windows all shake, my roof has flex and i ended up having to dynamat my trunk due to the licence plate kept having issues with screws shaking out lol

Used to have a pretty sweet setup in my accord before I sold it.. no pics but I had 3 Solo Barick L7s powered by two kicker amps. Optima Redtop, upgraded doorspeakers, added tweeters, and upgraded the rear speakers aswell. it bumped too hard! haha. Heres a few pics of the car itself tho...
