iPhone 5

Whole lot of sizzle, not much steak.

Not much innovative on this one. They finally got 4G which is good seeing as all GoPhones and PayAsYouGo Phones all had it a year ago.

Start saving to by a new iHome and other stuff since the connector has changed.

If they can't make it innovative enough for people to switch they have to make it so the people that do...REALLY PAY!!!!!!

If it's time to upgrade get one, if not don't waste your money.... aww just buy the Galaxy and make yourself even happier.

Gonna type my thoughts as I watch it...

-LOVE the slate aluminum color. I've been wanting an aluminum back for the past two or three gens.
-Graphics are pretty impressive. I would love the bigger 4" screen despite making the phone longer.
-Time-shifted multiplayer on that racing game?? Dope. I'm not quite sure how that works....
-Still only 8MP back camera? Good they improved it over the 4S in several ways at least, which will especially help in low light conditions (a photographer's nightmare), but they probably could have added some megapixels to it. I use my iPhone 4's camera a lot, so I can see the 5's being useful. Panorama is pretty neat.
-Front-facing camera has been improved to 720p. Bout time.
-Three microphones? Jesus. Should about cover everything...
-Enhanced audio will be good for me... I listen to music on my phone while doing my audit at work.
-Awww, I gotta replace my charging cord? Fuck. I love how I have like fifty of those laying around everywhere (house, backpack, car). I will love how it's smaller and reversible, though. Nothing worse than when I'm fighting to hook my phone up when I'm already in bed and the lights are off. I guess the adapter will come in handy and allow me to make use of those old chargers.
-Maps is dope. Bout time Apple got this together, especially turn-by-turn directions. Satellite view is beautiful. Love how responsive it all is to touch.
-I like the enhancements for Mail. Will come in use for sorting easier.
-Passbook is really cool. I'm interested to see how that develops over time.
-Love how you can post pics to FB from the Photo Album. No longer need to do through FB. Also the Siri/FB integration. Really, it's about damn time for more FB integration.
-A6 chip should be much faster than the 4's chip, so that would be good for me.

My wife and I currently have the iPhone 4 and are both eligible for upgrade. We think we're going to upgrade and sell our old ones, hopefully break even (I see them going for around $200 right now on craigslist, but not sure what they'll be going for once the 5 hits the streets).

I like it well enough and think it brought enough new things to the table to make the upgrade worth it. 4S wasn't a worthy upgrade to me, but this is I believe.

I'm not impressed by it at all. Its always nice to have a faster processor but I don't see much else they changed that makes this any better than an S3. I love the look and idea of the iPhone, I just really don't like the idea of not being able to take my battery out and not being able to expand the memory. Not many new features that i noticed either.

Can it multi-task yet?
Yes. It has had mutli-task features for quite some time now, ever since the 3GS model came out along with iOS 4.

I felt the same exact way. I was always deadset against the iPhone until shortly after I had to get a Macbook Pro for school (video editing purposes), and I realized how well the Macbook worked over PCs I had previously used. Finally gave it a shot and haven't looked back. I thought I'd miss things such as taking the battery out and having an SD card slot, but I haven't ever, not once, been in a situation where I've said to myself, "Damn I wish this phone had that, I could really use it right now." For memory purposes, I just hook up the phone to my laptop, which is easy because I always have a USB charging cable in my backpack, and I pretty much take my Macbook Pro everywhere I go. So if I need to load/unload data, it's quite easy. Now with iCloud, all that has become even easier, especially wireless software updates. For the battery, I've had the phone since release day of the iPhone 4 and it hasn't given me a single issue where I've needed to do anything to the battery. I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky. Either way, the simpleness is what attracts me about the iPhone. My brother, sister-in-laws, and several friends and other family have Android phones and everytime I play around with them, it all seems so foreign to me. I'm sure I'd quickly get used to it if I actually owned one, but layout and everything just seems kinda sloppy in comparison. And for certain people, such as my grandma, good luck trying to get her to figure out an Android phone. Every one I've played with has seemed like it was still in beta testing or something, as if Google said, "Good enough, let's release it and fix the bugs as they come up." I prefer a neat, finished product. Obviously there have been bugs with iPhones, but not near as many it seems like. That's why (IMO) iPhone is a more consumer-friendly phone for more demographics, hence it's popularity around the world. Simple to use. For me personally I just like how reliable the phone is and how I never have to worry about it tweaking out on me. Every other phone I've had has had its moments where I'm like, "WTF phone! Respect my authoritay!" Again, maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. Also, Android seems better suited to those who like to customize and change things a lot to get it exactly how they like it. That's the only thing I'll give Android phones- I wish Apple would add more customization options, especially in the way of aesthetics, like changing the colors of menus and stuff. Anyway, point I'm trying to make is, iPhone suits some people better whereas others are just better off with an Android. And the competition is good- It keeps the market fresh and always evolving, bringing us newer and better features each year. I'd rather live in a world where we argue/debate iPhone vs. Android than a world where we only have one option to choose from, because no company would be constantly raising the bar. We need that constant raising of the bar to keep most or all consumers happy with their phones, no matter what they decide to use.

Say what?!?
From wikipedia:
iOS is derived from OS X, with which it shares the Darwin foundation, and is therefore a Unix operating system.
Darwin forms the core set of components upon which Mac OS X and iOS are based. It is compatible with the Single UNIX Specification version 3 (SUSv3) and POSIX UNIX applications and utilities.

Why? I would think an unbiased article would be more valuable than reading android propaganda. I do not think that this website has any value whatsoever. My personal opinion is that people get so worked up on features that they forget about the importance of reliability.

Here's the thing.... I'm eligible for an upgrade with a contract extension, and I love my mew Apple toys, but........ when I compare functionality, item for item with the iPhone 5 to my HTC Evo 4G, there just isn't that much of a difference. Not enough to make the change anyway from a really good Android to what I think is a very overpriced iPhone. (All Apple products are overpriced in my opinion - trading off the mystique.) Especially since they've changed the charger so at least temporarily it's not compatible with any existing docking stations.

I've heard on the radio that the new charge port on the iPhone 5 that requires a new charger will make Apple $100 million the first year. I've been using the same charger for my Android phones for over 2 years lol.

And Apple has had the same charger for all its portable devices (iPod, iPhone, and iPad) for the past 10 years or so.

Only reason they changed it, and I understand why they did, was to be able to have more room for everything they wanted this phone to have, while making it slimmer- longer battery life, the A6 chip, better audio (look at the bottom of the new iPhone compared to the 4S, you'll see the speakers are much bigger), and the added third microphone for better noise cancellation and voice clarity. I know I'm missing a few things, but it makes sense to have to make the connector smaller to be able to fit more things in. So while it sucks to have to buy new extra chargers and accessories (I don't use any dock stereos or anything like that currently, so all I need is a backup charger when I get mine to keep in my backpack, as I keep a charger by my bed and one in my backpack at all times), I see why it needed to be done.

Actually, battery life may be going backwards compared to the original.
Read about it here http://www.itworld.com/mobile-wireless/295166/iphones-battery-life-actually-better-after-five-years
Of course the newer phone does more than the original.

True that its been the same for the past ten years, Android hasn't been nearly around for that long. But I've had multiple different phones from Motorola, Samsung, LG and even Blackberries and they all use the same charger. Hell Im charging my S3 with a BB charger right now haha.
