Dereksd
here in cali you cant have anyone 13 and under in the car i think or it might be 17 under not sure but i mean as long as its safe and your keeping your eyes on the road i dont see why not.with a leila i would say your fine but if you have a normal rig you could prob get a ticket for unsafe driving.if you get pulled over as long as its not a dick cop you could prove it shisha not nht.i cant wait to be a cop so i can see someone smoking hookah scare them then just say im playing and smoke with em a bit before i go and arrest people who are actually breaking the law
Johnny_D
I can't say for sure about american laws, but in the uk it would come under the rule..." Driving without due care and attention " Which is a blanket cover all for just about anything Plod does not like. You could, technically, get pulled for drinking a cup of coffee under said law/rule. I would imagine that US Driving laws have something similar and you would probably find it's conceivable that you could be prosecuted under said law.JD

Dereksd
yea dont know bout that ones but it should be legal as long as your following all safety laws of the road.might get pulled over by a cop who isnt familiar with hookah but be respectful and have some shisha on hand so he can smell/test it.if didnt have much goin on and saw someone smoking hookah in a car id pull em over and make sure it was shisha(smell the smoke or something) just to make sure they werent intoxicated while driving
kajon
They way i see it, if you can smoke a cig, you can smoke a hookah. I smoked a hookah on a 4 hour trip last weekend in FL. It might not "look good" if a police stops you, but you are not breaking any laws as far as i am concerened. As for the coals, get extra aluminum foil and wrap it vertically aroung the bowl to make a little wind protector. That keeps the coal in place. Snoopy1966
Well I would imagine so as JD said most states have the no cell phone while driving. I guess it would be up the the officer if he wants to pull you over. I will continue to use my Leila and it will get a good work out on the weekends from now on. I got a speeding ticket a couple of weeks ago, and I was smoking my Leila, and I just kept smoking, while waiting for the ticket. He asked me what I was smoking because it smelled good. I told him it was Pineapple tobacco. He said that is pretty cool and told me to slow down with a nice 80 buck fine........
RichL
Does anyone else not think this smoking in a car while driving somewhere business is a little ridiculous?! That's not what hookah culture is about. Back to the topic, I'd say just smoke some ciggies. If you do get caught or burn something or hookah problems cause you to not pay attention for a split second it surely will not be worth it. God forbid you get in a fender bender and when the police show up there's a hookah going, I'd think that would be grounds for reckless driving as many cops are straight punks, who won't care if hookah is legal or not. Dereksd
hookah is about relaxing and being social and theres no reason why you cant do that in a car
Voski
One time I had the mashal in my friends car and we were puffing away. We got a lot of what the fuck looks. For the coals moving around you can create a foil wall that's like a windcover almost.
Big Boss
I'm sure it's legal but I wouldn't do it simply because I would not want to deal with the hassle. I've had the chief of police come talk to me once because I was smoking a cigar in a restaurant parking lot while I was waiting for my brother simply because the cigar "smelled like something else." I don't wanna catch shit because I'm smoking something that "looks like something else" while driving.
vaypourus
I'm with BB on this one...I think it goes beyond the legality issue here.I once got pulled over while drinking a can of coke because the officer thought it was a beer. Once he saw that it was coke, he tried to play it off like he wanted to make sure that there was no liquor mixed in with the coke. After he took it and smelled it and gave me a quick sobriety test, he ran my license and informed me that my inspection was coming up due next month. Had I been drinking nothing, I would not have gained his attention at all and saved those 15 minutes of my life. All because he thought he saw something.Billowing clouds of smoke and/or a visable hookah/hookah smoking is just a red flag that says "Please pull me over to fuck with me". I can't say I blame them either....catching a bunch of kids in a car for smoking the illegal stuff could make for a nice bust, and some honest cops are all about keeping that stuff out of the hands of minors and/or people operating vehicles. Bulldog_916
I'd just wait till you get to your destination to smoke. -OR- Pull over and smoke a bowl. You got some good scenery coming in that drive, I would take it all in and smoke away. Some of the best times smoking can be the times where you're kickin' back checking out the views...or the girls...or both!
RichL
QUOTE (Dereksd @ Jun 13 2008, 10:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>hookah is about relaxing and being social and theres no reason why you cant do that in a cari just think when you are smoking a hookah while driving a car, it is no longer relaxing and social. it is certainly not relaxing to worry that any minute a cop could be pulling you over and questioning the hell out you. it is not relaxing to deal with a coal falling while operating a car. even if you are not smoking it yourself and only the friends in your car are smoking, it is still a distraction. it then becomes about "look at me i'm smoking hookah while i'm driving this car, cool!" and please don't tell me it isnt a bit about getting looks from other people, because it is a little about getting attention. i might seem a little angry, and thats because a couple years ago i lost someone close to me in a car accident. i'm all for smoking hookah, but i was just trying to say keep it safe and stop somewhere to smoke.
