Yeah an piece of scrap aluminum I cut into a circle, or if you dont have any metal, I also used to use piece of an old rug.

i keep the hookah on my coffee table, with a piece of aluminum under it...it's a pretty bad idea, since it seems every time i drop a coal it hits the aluminum and bounces onto the carpet...

I just put it on an antique chest we're using as a coffee table. It's got burn marks, gouges, and all sorts of blemishes on it from the past 2 centuries, including what appears to be marks from someone beating on it with the nail-removing side of a hammer, so the one burn that was caused by me went completely unnoticed. The rug beneath it, however... My parents stole it from my room when I was painting and started using it in the living room. They have no right to bitch at me about it.

I use a 12"x12" slate floor tile - add stability for the hookah, but si far hasn't saved any falling coals

I use a Mya QT when vagrants are around, and it's basically impossible to knock over. The only time that coals fall off is by gross negligence, and I keep that to a minimum. If a coal does fall, I grab it as quick as I possibly can and usually the damage is unnoticeable.

I have a carpet that's about 6x10 feet... that just about catches the burning shrapnel that clumsy fools send flying all around my room.

usually nothing, i cant feel much heat in my finger tips any more so it doesnt really matter if one falls. but if the room is carpeted and there is no table then i put the hookah in a deep cooking pot or on a cookie sheet

LMAO, a few days ago my coal rolled off into the charcoal tray, but then it bounced out onto the carpet. I've never had it bounce out like that before. It was so weird.

Tile floor here. So.... all i need is like clorox and a scrubber if i drop a coal on the floor. Not sure about that though , have yet to recieve my hookah from a week ago because of a mistake on Hookah-Shisha.com -____-

I use several different trays from fast food places. The different colored trays match my hookah's. For instance Taco Bell uses purple trays and they go great with my purple themed(sp?) hookah, and have saved my carpet from many coals. Edited August 31, 2007 by 03SilverTL

i use to have this thing that my friend made, damn i wish i had a picture, it would fit around the vase with an aluminum ring, and connected to the ring were about 4 or 5 inch "legs". The tips of the legs would dig into the carpet and keep the whole thing from falling over. It was like a Hookah Brace. A Rather good invention.

I use a 6'x9' carpet I got from wal-mart for only $20. It's an indoor/outdoor carpet. It has some mighty burns in it but hey, for $20 you really can't go wrong.

the dirty, burnt hookah mat that we found when we moved into my house. It's served me well, although there ARE still some burn marks in the carpet from improper coal handling.
