I’m Getting Another Hookah… What Should It Be

Recommended Posts

I have now owned my hookah for about 2 1/2 years and it is on a rapid decline. Since it is now time for me to get a new hookah, I figure I may as well get one that’s perfect for me.

I would like to see what opinions you all have towards modern vs. Egyptian vs. bohemian vs. rotating hookahs vs. hookahs with the ice chamber vs. mya’s

My first concern, obviously, would be to get the hookah with the best smoke. Then, factors like durability and originally aesthetic would be nice as well

Ps. I have been leaning towards a mya qt, but I have a little more money to spend this time around and for some reason feel that the short mya won’t smoke as well

the QT happens to be one of the favorites on the site. im willing to bet that it would be a very good choice. but if you give me a few days i could let you know. i just ordered two of them and they should be here sometime within the next week.

another thing you are gonna want to consider is if its just for you or if it is something that you want to be sharing with friends. are you going to need more than one hose?

I share quite a bit, but we don't mind passing the hose around. I feel its more social, while I certainly do not object to a second hose too.

I guess what scares my about the QT is the price. I know that you get what you pay for, so why is it about as inexpensive as hookah's get?

i believe its because mya was trying to make something that would be competetive with other brands of hookahs that were selling theirs fairly cheap. its easy for a beginner to buy, but still an amazing hookah. i've heard nothing but good things about it.

I guess that’s my hesitation towards it, I feel like I should get something else considering I already have my beginner hookah. On the other hand, if it smokes good... Edited by agslax

How much are you wanting to spend? If fifty bucks is all, then my only suggestion is a QT by Mya. If you want to spend twice as much and get about three times the hookah, get a nicer Mya (myasaray.com). If you go to their official website, you can either order from them or shop around at other websites for package deals and forum discounts (mya direct has 15% off).

If you want to go the Egyptian route, SocialSmoke has some fine smokin' machines from what I read from most everyone who purchases from there.

I have already had a pretty nice smoking egyptian, so I was thinking of something a little different. No one has commented on the rotating egyptians or the egyptians with the ice chamber (which im a little skeptical of). I was looking at those two as a was of changing things up if I decide to stick with the egyptian

I don't have a particular budget. I was hoping for something under 100, but if it is worth it I will spend more. I think the acrylic mya would be good for me, but I really do not like the look of them sad.gif

This is a Mya Acrylic, this is basically all we smoke out of at my house. They are Mya's so they are durable, decent looking and worth every cent. I have seen one mya acrylic break, it was three years old and used every single day. This hookah is really nice for college students. You don't have to worry about it breaking, because of the vase, and it hits just like any other pipe if not better.

If you are looking for something a little more prettier, I would go for something like this:

Mya quality and it's a beaut.

So, do you think these acrylics have an advandage over the QT, besides the bowl's durability??? Edited by agslax

uuuuggggggghhh.....

Forget the QT...

You mentioned that you wanted a good smoker .. then looks. So I'd recommend something traditional or simply well made. SS egyptians....... the larger Mya's are nice... A good cast Syrian is good too.

I personally believe that hookas that have a sleeve on the inside of the stem are best.... something you will see on most traditional hookahs.

Avoid mass produced chinese hoookahs.

Another option, one that I took advantage of, is getting a MYA acrylic (screw on stem) which can easily be converted for use with any MYA glass vase. All you would eventually need is a grommet which slides over the threading and can be used with any of their glass bases. I'm glad I took this route as sometimes I use my acrylic vase, other times my glass depending on where I am and what mood I'm in..... all with the same stem.
