Its hot today and my patience is at an end!

Those rubber things...between the head and the shank, between the jar and the shank and betwen the hose and the hose port are grommets. NOT Gaskets.

Wikitionary:

Gasket Gasket

Grommet Grommet

I went on google to check "rubber gaskets" mostly it said "Rubber & Gaskets"
http://www.lavelle.com/standard_rubber_par...r_grommets.html

http://www.westernrubber.com/

"Marco Rubber & Plastics.com" tell it like it is. See their gaskets- nothing like the hookah rubbers.
http://www.marcorubber.com/grommetsearch/search.asp

The I typed in "rubber grommets", the search showed up photos of similar to our rubber dingies for the hookah.

THIS looks similar to a hookah "rubber".

Somebody mentioned a condom. Good one. Ironically, a condom is a gasket.

but it protects my junk from getting damaged, thus it's a grommet. empathy.gif

Well, you should consider a new girlfriend, then. rofl.gif

I think I'll let ilikemyusername's own word speak for themselves:

I know they're gaskets in my heart. My favorite brands Afzal and HookahHookah both call them grommets, so I call them grommets."

yeah, Theres actually alot of people that aren't here anymore, if I remember right they were all involved in the last seal thread.

Actually I was mostly responsible for that whole fiasco and I'm still here lol

Looking back on it the whole thing was stupid, but still makes me chuckle

QUOTE
gasket (plural gaskets)

1. Any mechanical seal that serves to fill the space between two objects, generally to prevent leakage between the two objects while under compression.
2. A material which may be clamped between faces and acts as a static seal. Gaskets may be cut, formed, or molded to the desired configuration. - ASTM
3. Any of a wide variety of seals or packings used between matched machine parts or around pipe joints to prevent the escape of a gas or fluid. - American Heritage Dictionary

looks like it fits the definition of gasket
