OK, I'm new to this lounge thing. I'm wondering about the best wholesale hookah businesses. I think I've found the best: www.hookahdistributors.com the prices are very fair & the selection keeps improving. what are your opinions? Edited by MAJIKVEGGIE

i would say that the best bet would be to contact the mfg of the pipes you want to use and the makers of the tobacco you want to use and sure as that to get wholesale. either that or contact mnh and hc and see if they have a wholesale program.

THC owns HDist. & most manufacturers only sell to distributors like them.

well like was said hookah company has a whole sale thing so, maybe they could help you out, but for tobacco i know you can contact tangiers directly and eric will wholesale to lounges, if your gonna serve tangiers.

I've read some of Sonthert's posts, he realy does sound like a great fellow. I hate to say this but I have yet to try tangiers shish. I've been smoking Nakhla now for a year & before that I was blending my own. Untill I try tangiers I'll be carrying Nakhla in my shop.

Only Nakhla? Please tell me you'll carry more than just Nakhla...

Like what? Layalina isn't half as good, golden lable is pure syrup, Starbuzz is hype & Al Amir is a wash out. I'll stick with Nakhla untill I find something better... Perhaps I'll like tangiers?

I would say that you should probably carry others, just for variety. Just because you dont like a certain tobacco doesnt mean that others wont, and you want ot please as many people as possible.

Very true. That's professional advice. Edited by MAJIKVEGGIE

definitely agree with simplex , you need to carry at least 3 brands i'd say. With at least 7-10 flavors a brand, gotta be able to please everyones taste buds

i have been considering opening a lounge myself and have been trying different brands and i was only going to offer what i decided was worth it, if i ever was able to open the place. But then i noticed there were some brands and flavors that i hated and everyone around me was raving about. So i decided its best to offer a wide selection, and then if it doesnt sell well enough you can stop selling it once you run out.

Yeah, you gotta be sensible. If someone came in looking for AF would you scoff and say "good riddance"? Its not about what you like, its about what the consumer likes. If you don't understand that basic, fundamental rule you will fail as a retailer.

I'll hopefully be opening my lounge in the spring sometime, right now I'm looking to have Al Waha, Nakhla, Tangiers(Reg and Lucid), Starbuzz, Tonic, Fantasia, and Al Fakher. Gotta have the variety to make people happy even if it ups your inital cost. Is your shop going to be just a shop or is it going to be a lounge? Have you put any more thoughts into an acutual business plan other then just wanting to open one up?

You should probably have AF, Nahkla and Starbuzz. That way the people have a variety, to choose from and you can also have more flavors. Don't offer tangiers in the lounge if you never smoked it before because it is a bit difficult to set up.

As for as that website goes, the prices there are more expensive than thehookah.com sells them for and the website looks identical. But if you know you are only going to carry MYA's (which is a very sensible decision) you should contact Mya wholesale and deal with them directly.

Thanks for the advice.
The prices are allot better on Tier ONE! Nothing over $50... "Rotator for $45 Shhhh."
P.S. You need to be a licenced business to be put on the tiers.
P.P.S Tier one is the lowest tier. Edited by MAJIKVEGGIE

I agree you gotta have variety

Nakhla is good for cheaper bowls, people on a budget, or people who prefer it

Starbuzz might be hype but wholesale is cheap and it's worth it, especially for people looking for an interesting selection

AF is awesome all around, makes a nice mid range price bowl and tastes great, you'll have tons of people wanting to try that

Tangiers is a great option as well, great flavor, great buzz.

Fantasia is sort of like starbuzz, just with a more vibe. taste

If you're going to just start off you probably won't start out with ALL the brands, but these should be good enough to start with. Simply because it offers a variety for big hookah smokers and first timers alike. I know there are plenty of other good brands but these are nearly staples to people (semi) and familiar with hookah.

I wouldn't recommend carrying Romman unless you have some select flavors you like.

I've gone through the process of opening my own lounge too, just not enough cash to get started. So make sure you think through everything you want to do.

For example. Pack a bowl of tangiers with a smaller hookah and take it around to tables and let people try it, instant self promotion, they'll be back for a bowl of it.

There are plenty of other things to consider too: loyalty cards, types of bowls, hoses and if they'll be exclusive to flavors.

just a few tips

Sorry, juat trying to hype it up.

why are you trying to push hdist? I persoanlly used Thehookah.com to helllp get my place started, but when the in-state dist. opened here I went with them for better prices, lower shipping costs, and faster shipping.

It's just that I've run across allot of pushy wholesalesmen & ones who've seriously questioned my "Lounge"... I'm just skeptical that's all. Edited by MAJIKVEGGIE
