seems to be legit. sites been up since 1998. you can follow up on the links that the site provides. but i see no purpose

Legitimacy and reputability are very different things. It seems to be legit, but consideration of reputability is just as, if not more important. if you get a flawed or rusted stem, just for one example: will they replace it, will they require you to ship it back at their cost or yours, will they partially compensate you, or will they ignore you?

It's been up for ten years, but neither of us have heard of it... that tells you that they probably aren't particularly good at running a business, or that they intentionally want to stay unknown for some reason.

how did i miss that..

thats a cheap peice of crap hookah which you should never buy in a million years, not even for that price. its a knockoff of the stargate. its made by king of hookah. if you buy that hookah you are paying for a POS. get the stargate, its made out of glass instead of plastic.

that one is made out of cheap aluminum/plastic. i wouldnt even pay 50 for one of those.

get the one from here, its legit

The Stratus Hookah is forged of solid stainless steel, with an acrylic window in the base to gauge the water level. The shaft detaches from the base and breaks down into 2 pieces, making for easy portability and cleaning. The Stratus comes with a black 6 foot synthetic leather hose and all the necessary grommets to ensure an air-tight seal. A cool hard carrying case is included, allowing you to transport this awesome hookah in style.

Live help is off right now... did you want me to call Scott in here on Monday to address this? tongue.gif Edited by gaia.plateau

Absolutely it's a knockoff, but that doesn't mean it's garbage or even inferior.

They're both made out of steel, the Stratus looks like it's a little more durable and a better smoke, due to the much larger base.

I probably wouldn't buy either for any reasonable price.

Edit:

i cant really tell if the vase is glass or not.

As stated three posts ago, in bold, it's acrylic. Edited by gaia.plateau

for 150 when you can get one for 120.

from the reviews ive read and based off of the price compared to other hookahs, its very inferior

ive already posted this somewhere else. Will add again.

My Stratus is an absolue monster.

Once you overcome some of it bad design problems such as,

Filling the perfect amount of water, too little and not enough bubbling, too much and it splashes up into the hose.
Using a thick hookah foil on top so not to burn the head too quickly.
gluing the ball bearing in the air release as it has a habbit of falling out of place and creating leak while your smoking.

The air flow that flows through this is amazing. I also own 3 different MYA pipes and air flow is no comparrison, hence the nessesaty for a thick foil. The air passing over the coal really gets it going good.

The thick smoke and clean flavour it produces is incredible comapred to all my other pipes. I consistantley clean all my pipes, use the same tobacco, same coal and share my hoses amongst all my pipes (apple hose for apple, grape for grape ect) and the Stratus is a standout hands down without argument.

A fresh bowl of Al Fakher last about 1 hour, compared to my MYA's 1.5 hours. but the flavour and smoke is heaps better so i guess its worth the sacrafice.

In response to the rumors that it leakes between the glass and metal base........absolutely not. the glass is in fact perspex and it runs all the way through. the metal base is simply a dressing on the outside so there is no need for a clean seal between the two.

I can highley recommend this pipe to anyone who has the patience to fiddle around with it.

Joe...

DID I MENTION IT LOOKS ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING.

or this one?

None they are the same thing virtually.

And with Hookah-shisha's price match policy, they are the exact same price.

Hookah-shisha just gives names to all the pipes they sell.

If you are looking to buy one, this guy selling it had an Online Store for a while and is very reputable.

I did a search of every discussion forum thread mentioning the Stratus, and no one who has ever seen or tried the Stratus and Stargate has called it inferior. Maybe I missed "all the reviews" though, as you put it. Have any luck finding those ones you were talking about?

If Anxiety really digs this hookah, as he says, there has not been presented any reason for him to buy a different one instead.

i was calling the stratus inferior to other hookahs. maybe i should have explained it better.

and dont pull that out where you compare it with every hookah known to man, cause i know theres worse then the stargate/stratus/expresso. im talking about standard 28-32 inch ejyptian from hookahcompany. Edited by Canon

Haha, well I already stated my position on that, I think that mod hookahs are definitely inferior to Syrian/Egyptian/Lebanese/Iranian hookahs.

But smokeability isn't everything, at least not for all people. You and I both bought the Syrian Glyph based primarily on how it looked, am I not correct?

Anyway, it was definitely unclear that you were calling it inferior to other hookahs, since you called it "[inferior based off of reviews on this website and others]" directly after comparing it to the Stargate, and without mentioning any other hookahs.

Anyway, I haven't been able to find a solidly negative review on either, and I've only smoked out of a mod hookah once. It's mostly the general experience of forum members that leads me to believe they smoke a little more difficultly than more traditional pipes. That said, there's no law stating that you can only have one hookah for the rest of your life, neither of us started out with a KM or MZ. Anxiety should do the research, and if he still wants to take a chance on the hookah his heart is set on, he should.

i dont see whats so special about it.

i suppose it seems a bit too modern for my tastes. i like hookahs because they look retro and old school

best option is to make a new thread about the stargate. if anyone owns them it will be more likely that they will read that thread then this one.

I think it's pretty well established that modern hookahs don't 'kick' as well as traditional ones, Mya pipes being the exceptions.

It's not a terrible rule of thumb to go by, that larger chambers result in more smoke, but it certainly isn't without exception. There are honestly too many factors to consider, to determine how well a waterpipe will smoke, to make a science out of it. You just have to experiment and learn from the experience of others.
