It was 60 bones from the user HookahDude831, and I asked for a small phunnel bowl that I've always wanted to try out. Now, in my first PM I asked if he can ship to Canada via USPS and it was OK, he even sent me a shipping estimate from the USPS website so I can choose my shipping.Fast forward a couple of days and I get a reply with my UPS tracking number. Now, everyone knows that UPS charges outrageous brokerage fees and that's why I communicated the request to send via USPS only on multiple occasions. Thinking that I'm out 30-40 bones but still getting the hookah soon-ish, I went to the UPS website to check when I should be getting it.Surprise again, the shipper sent it to my old address in Vancouver. This was partly my fault b/c I haven't updated my Paypal profile for a while, but at the same time I PM'd him the desired shipping address multiple times. Also included it in the comments section of the Paypal transaction, but Paypal decided to cut half of my address out and post my (outdated) shipping address stored in their database.So, I PM'd HookahDude831 again and asked to reverse the shipment and that I would split any additional shipping costs with him. Got a response yesterday that there is nothing he can do and that the hookah is officially heading to somebody random (probably an NHT-smoker b/c nearly everyone in BC puffs). So, I'm out 100 bones, my friend's not getting her KM, and some lucky SOB will get a nice Mash'al.Moral of the story is, don't assume random things like choosing the shipping company and double check addresses before shipping stuff that was already paid for. In the future I'll spend an extra few dollars and shop with a legit online vendor. Lesson learnt on my part.Just a warning for anyone from Canada that's new and doesn't know about UPS yet. I don't normally use Paypal and it had my old address, which had become a condemned house... so the books all got shipped back to the sellers. Some were nice enough to reship, a couple of them refunded me, but the majority, like 12/20 just ignored my e-mails. It sucks, but yeah it's important to make sure a vendor has your correct address when you order shit online. Of the $140 I spent last year on those books, I ended up being out about $100. Then again in the perfect world I would be typing this from my beachfront apartment on la Barceloneta in beautiful Catalunya, Spain ps: sucks about the books, but a hookah! mjdx88 Posted April 6, 2008 Share Posted April 6, 2008 If you get a shipping intercept through ups it has to go to the first address and then ups will come back and pick it up and send it to the right destination. That being said, I think the brokerage fee will actually be an advantage in this situation since not many people are willing to pay 30-40 bones for something they didn't order.
