I think foil does it much better.Also, If i may, could you possibly not use 'text speech' ? Stick with foil, and YOU make as many holes as you want, and as big as you want them. No middle ground I'd say that you could probably find them in australia easily enough. There was a member who was quite active at one time.. Benny I think his name was. They sent me a free one from HS, and I was looking forward to trying it. After a while they actually do begin to rust, and as Codename067 said, they do produce way to much airflow. r1v3th3ad Posted February 13, 2008 Share Posted February 13, 2008 I've had great luck with my screen(I don't use foil anymore), but I'm due for a new one because mine is beginning to rust from my Everclear cleaning...As for being a noobie, I'd recommend for you to use foil for a while until you get the swing of things. Stick with foil and toothpicks and you'll be set for amazing sessions once you get it down pat.I loves me toothpicks...and my phunnel.I packed a bowl of the Fantasia Pink Lemonade I got from MNH with my new scalli mod over the weekend. Used foil and toothpicks. After two hours of smoking with amazing flavor the whole time, my friend asked, "Is that the same bowl?" wondering if I had packed a new one. I said "yeah." He was like, "damn." My friends aren't used to smoking for that long on a single bowl, but they only have regular bowls and not phunnels for their hookahs.That same friend used to have a screen for his hookah. willbb123 Posted February 13, 2008 Share Posted February 13, 2008 most of the time I use foil on my hookah... the only problem that I have with it is that it is really easy to tear when you are poking the holes or when you are breaking the broken shisha of it. Maybe if someone would get smart and make a screen with SMALL holes instead of alot of huge ones it might help. The only use I found for it is if you put it UNDER your foil, it gives a little room between the shisha and the coals which can help heat management. Heat management is one of the important, really important factors and is an art, you have to keep moving your coals, getting rid of the ash during your smoke for a good smoke. By the way, natural coals are what I am leaning towards now, they produce little ash and have no funny chemical taste in your mouth. I use the cocobrico, which is the I think Czech/german version of the natural coconut shell charcoal. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
