Obama Or Mccain?

Recommended Posts

McCain. Obama has socialist ideals which would tear this country apart and a protectionist bias, meaning our hookah hobby would be much more difficult to maintain as well as many of our beloved consumer products would no longer be around due to his belief in keeping everything in-house with little to no exports or imports. All non-American citizens should be hoping for McCain to win because not only does our economy depend on trading with yours, your economy depends on trading with ours. Obama has a terrible foreign policy and no energy policy whatsoever. He intends to spend 1.5 trillion dollars within his first term and he has no idea where he's going to get the money -- oh wait, even I can answer that. Taxes. And how will those taxes affect you? Higher prices on everything.

The man has little experience in politics and virtually no experience in Washington, so even if the people who believe what he has to say about the changes he will make, he won't be able to achieve them.

Please show me a link which shows that he intends to spend 1.5 trillion.

Another thing I wanna ask you is are you happy with how things are now in general, just a simple yes or no.

You can drill and drill and drill until you get gas down to $3.00 a gallon. Then it's only a matter of time before demand once again outstrips supply. Then price returns to $4-5 a gallon.

One of the members of OPEC has stated that the prices are far beyond the reasonable demand/supply economics. Oil is an economic law unto itself. What needs to happen is to make it a less-favorable investment. Hedge funds and investors are and have been driving the price up for many, many years and will continue to do so. Why? They wouldn't care if they had to pay $20.00/gallon for gas because they're making so much buying and selling the futures.

The CFTC (Commodities and Futures Trade Commission) has embarked on an investigation about price manipulation in the oil futures and hopefully something will happen with that.

While I do agree we need to find new methods of energy (or use old ones -- nuclear), it is not because of an economic or environmental reason. It is because so many wars have been fought over them that need not have been fought and it would lessen the power Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and other oil producing countries (OPEC) have over the world.

http://www.theunion.com/article/20080621/O...arentprofile=-1 Oh, my bad. It's not 1.5 trillion, it's 5 trillion.

The only things I'm not happy about with this country are 1) Patriot act, 2) regulations and bans left and right on civil liberties (smoking, etc)

This article outlines both fiscal policies. Thus far, McCain's policy would increase the deficit more at 4.3 trillion dollars by 2018. Obama's would increase the deficit to 3.3 trillion by 2018. This is from a conservative leaning newspaper. I cant imagine many conservatives would argue with their own newspapers.

Just a quick edit:

Obama cant really say he would increase smoking bans right now. He already stated that he would be open to legalizing certain green substances (recreational NHT). Just the money coming in from the taxation and legalization would completely eliminate the deficit. I certainly hope he comes through on that. The savings from ending the drug war enforcement on green NHT would save several hundred million dollars for other law enforcement and counter terrorism efforts. Edited by Bulldog_916

Not true at all lol. Obama would not waste his time on disputing such a non sense comment.

Its politics dont believe 100% of what obama or mccain says.

Here's McCain in an interview stating Obama's plan to spend 1.4 trillion..And of course, if he said it and it wasn't true, then it would be harshly rebutted by Obama

I really dont like it when people complain about the money we spend on the war on drugs and I dont like it when people say that we would save money by ending the war on drugs (yes I know we would, hang on) it implies that we should stop the war on drugs just because we are spending money on it. Its like saying lots of people do XYZ illegal thing, so lets make XYZ legal, that way people wont do as many illegal things.

Secondly I'm planning on voting Mcain for a couple of reasons my chief reason is that I am VERY against the idea of any sort of nationalized healthcare. If the government wants to provide a low-cost insurance thats fine, but I do NOT want to pay for other peoples healthcare. We live in a capitalist society not a communist society, as was previously stated communism does not work on a large scale and/or nationwide scale. Also I consider myself a Republican and for the most part agree with the Republican point of view.

Everyone is free to express their own opinions. You don't have the right to insult them just because you don't agree with them.

Now that was a much better reply. Your points come across way better when you explain your point of view.

Low-paying jobs dominate most of this economy. You cant just get a job that provides benefits anymore, it isnt that easy for a lot of people in the first place. He isnt saying he wants everyone to have this nationalized insurance, he's saying that he wants every American covered by the policy. If you dont have insurance, you have to go through an application process in order to be covered. I dont see what's wrong with it honestly. We do need higher taxes in order to pay for our needed growth. Leaving it up to industry to do everything doesnt do anyone any good except the rich and those who work for them. What happens is that if it doesnt fit in the profit margins of the company, it wont exist. Right now, with companies struggling to pull good profit margins, the first thing to go is going to be benefits to employees. If you are at the lower end of the pay spectrum you probably will have your benefits cut or eliminated. I dont think you'll be complaining quite as loudly about nationalized health care if your benefits get cut and you end up with a hospital bill in the thousands of dollars. Capitalism doesnt solve every problem. Nor does government alone. But now government must take the lead and help its citizens. Their role is to protect the citizenry.

And I didnt mean end the war on drugs as a whole, I meant end the war on the green one. Make it legal so we can use products made from it and use the fuels that could be developed from it. Research it, we would have biodiesel in amounts large enough to sustain the demand of the US population and others abroad.

mccain baby. oboma is a socialist. nationalized healthcare!!! come on people we dont live in "A Brave New World". Haven't you all seen socialism fail before? this man and his socialist agenda has to be stopped. This country was made on core principles that the liberal/democratic party has failed to acknowledge. Like allowing CA judges to make law from the bench when they ruled on gay marriage!!!!!!

I suggest you look up the word "socialist". In Norway (and most of europe) Obama would qualify for a right-wing party, and he has absolutely nothing to do with socialism. Unless socialism now means "anything not ultra-right-wing", that is.

Anyways, good luck with your election. I'll be watching it from up north, where I am able to enjoy free healthcare smile.gif

Everyone has trashed both people in this argument. Don't cry because I put down your beloved Osama. Seems like people who like to spit crap on internet message boards about how great their leader is and talk crap about everyone else can't handle a little bit of the same medicine.

Boulderkid - do YOU think it's appropriate calling someone devil? A name to inspire fear of the demon Lucifer and an eternity in damnation? Don't come attacking me until you go back and edit your own posts.

I'm not pissed because you put down OBAMA. Put him down all you want. I'm pissed because you're equating a full red-blooded American with a TERRORIST LEADER! If you could come up with a good policy argument I would take you on in a debate, but apparently you dont want to.

Mudslinging is obviously the only thing republicans know how to do right. They cant run a war. They cant defend the country against terrorism. They cant help a shattered economy. They cant get high oil prices lower. They cant come up with a sound energy policy. They cant fix our schools. They cant handle the climate crisis. They cant even be conservative with the budget. They obviously cant interpret the Constitution. They cant run a terrorist prison (Guantanamo). They dont follow the Geneva Conventions. They dont know the difference between Sunni and Shia. Need I really go on?

I'm not on a political debate forum, and honestly - I have no interest debating you on any of it. Read over my post again, which was not an invitation do debate. I said I really dislike BOTH of them, but I'll take one party's overall views over the other.

Seriously - you are all steamed up but can't actually read the post the whole way through. Relax, take a deep breath, and go find an Obama fanboi forum and you can all sit around posting about how great you are.

Dude I think everyone in here would have voted for the McCain of 8 years ago, the real reformer, straight talker and maverick. Now he's just a small foot trying to fill the big Bush shoe. I'll hedge my bet with the liberal this time.

Yes the country is heading down the wrong path, no mccain will not change that. Will Obama bring change? Yes, but only change to another wrong path. 2 party system FTL. Pick your poison cuz whoever u vote for the next 4 years are gonna be just as bad as the last. Personally, im voting independent. I'd rather make my vote count towards a growing movement away from a bipartisan system than wasted on a candidate I don't support.

I would have to agree with nick when he says you create your own living conditions. Its bullshit that people expect the government to pay there way and support them. It realistically is not very hard to get a decent paying job (granted you dont have other factors involved such as kids). Alot of people would rather bitch and moan about how bad their situation is rather then going out and doing it.

*and this comment is more of a rant then directed at any one...i live near berkely and san fran. some of the hippies piss me off to no end.

The war is not going to end for a year or two regardless of who gets elected. Bush is trying to put into effect a plan that will keep us troops in iraq till next july at the earliest as a way of transitioning the government control completely to the iraqis....FTL

I disagree with taking our troops out so quicky. We must leave Iraq in a better state then it was when we got there. We owe it to them.
