Texico
I have a brass stem syrian. I've never had any problems with anything like that. The brass does oxidize, but it's not bad for you. Hookahs have been made out of brass for centuries (?). I'm not sure about the exact time, but I know that brass was once the prime material for hookah stems. gaia.plateau
QUOTE (Ralleac @ Feb 14 2008, 04:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Brass doesn't rust. No, but it does oxidize and corrode... not a big difference. Brass is more resistant to corrosion than steel, because the oxidization process of tarnishing takes longer than the oxidization process of rusting. Brass is also more reactive than steel, so a brass hookah will tarnish much easier than a steel hookah will rust.So what it comes down to is this. A poorly-cared for brass hookah will outlive a poorly-cared for steel hookah, but an extremely well-cared for steel hookah will outlive an extremely well-cared for brass hookah.Pick your poison.
