Hookah Music?

Recommended Posts

First of all, good question.

My answer: Lots of stuff.

Usually:

Middle Eastern-esque music including Niyaz, Solace, Shiva in Exile, Sima Bina, and Sevara Nazarkhan.

Thought-provoking songs, and mellow music, including the Cat Empire, Gotan Project, Mazzy Star, Thievery Corporation, Mo'Horizons, the Doors, Bob Dylan, and Ultimate Spinach.

Occasionally, I also listen to EBM, including VNV Nation, Pride and Fall, Covenant, Icon of Coil, and Seabound.

Check out any of the above bands/artists, they might enhance your hookah experience. smile.gif

Also, stop by my station at Pandora for some good Hookah Chill music.

I like to rock out with Gothic Metal, stuff like Forest of Shadows, My Dying Bride, Type O Negative, Tiamat, On Thorns I Lay, pretty much anything slow and heavy. When I'm not listening to that stuff I pretty much listen to stuff like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and so on and so forth. Edited by Big Boss

If I'm alone I mostly listen to Greek music (rebetika), Arabic music, Persian music (Sharam Nazeri, Mohammad Reza Shajarian).

Sometimes when I'm with friends we bring out some musical instruments (bouzouki, guitar, tombelek/doumbek) and play/sing.

for me any chill music, personal favorites of mine is alittle bit of jack johnson, mae, DMB, and third eye blind are up there with the favorite music for my friends and I.

I would have to agree with these! Well, the Third Eye Blind and the Jack Johnson. Definitely the Jack Johnson.

Anything really. As long as it's chill. Sometimes, the music never gets turned on.

When I lived in Saudi Arabia, 1997-1998, I bought several tape cassettes of Arabian music. Saudi Arabia law forbids the live musical performances, except at weddings. So there is a large selection of Arabian music cassettes and CDs available in their stores. I prefer to play this type of music when I smoke.

Interesting thread. I like kind on trippy music when I smoke like Hurdy Gurdy Man and Season of the Witch by Donovan Leetch, I like Kyrie Eliason and I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night by The Electric Prunes, and I like the entire collection on Surrealistic Pillow by the Jefferson Airplane. The ultimate hookah song is White Rabbit!

I'm a big fan of listening to post rock while smoking hookah. 65daysofstatic, explosions in the sky, mogwai, that sort of stuff.

+1 Post Rock and Post Metal (Cult of Luna, Isis) are amazing with hookah. I actually named my 28'' Khalil Maamoon Hookah "Luna."
