Does anyone know where you can buy beedis online? I smoked them 14 years ago and would like some and can't seem to find any in the local tobacco shops. I did a google search and all I can find is anti-smoking info about how harmful they are. Surely there must be places selling them online?

Thanks HAHkoo, but I was looking for ones with tobacco in them not tobacco free stuff. Perhaps I need to look around Phoenix a little harder?

No, I never tried a headshop type place. I guess I will have to head on down to one of them and see if they carry them. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was looking a while ago and found after much effort a bidi maker in India who will send them to the US. They accept MF. They are cheap! Six bucks a carton (200) but the shipping was high. However, if you want to go in on an order, the shipping would not be so bad. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get some current details to ya. tongue.gif

I don't know about ordering them in by the cartons...I don't think I could smoke that many of them and the tobacco beetles would show up. I did find a place selling them locally here in Phoenix. $1.85 for a pack they even have rolled up a little tiny piece of cotton in them for a filter. I have to say that they are not nearly as good as I remember. Now the flavor of the wrapper is somewhat unpleasent to my taste. Shame to because I really did enjoy them 14 years ago.

oh wow....

Beedies, though smaller than regular cigarettes produce three times more carbon monoxide and nicotine, and five times more tar than a regular cigarette.

We don't get these in Canada... But I had an Indonesian friend who brought some delicious Indonesian smokes. The smoke tasted like spices and they occasionally made a cackling sound when burning. Also, the filter was coated with some sweet flavouring. I wonder if that's similar to the beedis?

Also, I remember smoking some Chinese Orange-Flavoured Menthol cigs. These were amazing as well... Although I hate menthol wink.gif

No luck finding any of them so far though :/

Those are kreteks/cloves. You can probably find some Djarums in any tobacco shop, they seem to be the most common brand around here. I usually get the Djarum Lights because they look like regular cigarettes and I don't like the extra attention I get from teenagers when I smoke the Blacks outside of work. The Blacks have a stronger flavor, though.

Thanks for the info! Are you writing from Canada? I need to check out the tobacco shop tomorrow wink.gif
edit: a quick Wiki-search and this popped up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kretek
Seems like I'll be getting some Djarum's soon. One step closer to self-destruction...

There is a place around the bend from me called the Africa House but they sell the indian tobacco bidis. So try culture shops as well as head shops.
