azcoyote
Smiley called yesterday to say the order was being shipped. I received it this morning. I received two 1 lb bags of coconut charcoal and as a bonus, 25g. of Berry Blast and 50g of Orange Bang. I loaded up my Egyptian with Berry Blast. The shisha was moist, fragrant and free from large pieces of stem. It is reddish probably from food coloring. I fired up the coals with my butane torch. The coals lit fine and were ready for the pipe within a few minutes. From what I had heard, these coals were hot, so I left a gap under the foil. It took a while for thing to get going, but the flavor started coming through loud and clear after about five minutes. I was not getting thick clouds, so I took off the coal, pressed the foil down to the tobacco, voila! thick clouds! Smiley tobacco needs a bit more heat than I am used to applying. But it is a very good smoke. The flavor is one of the best berry flavs I have experienced to date. Very much in your face. And delicious. One is aware of the nicotine after a few strong pulls on the pipe. I stopped about 15 minutes into the session to take care of a customer. Took the coals off and snuffed them out under a shot glass. An hour later I have resumed the session. The coals relit very quickly and got things going. Now I am on my second set. These coal burn for a long time, but I am not sure they burn any longer or hotter than finger coals. They are very clean tasting right from the start. I definintely would reccommend them. As for the shisha, I am delighted to find another premium brand to enjoy. I will be getting more Berry Blast for sure. You should buy some if you like tasting berries while getting your ass kicked. Thanks Smiley for the treat!

SanguineSolitude
his blog says 9 bucks for 50g is it actually worth 45 bucks for 250g? worth more than 500g of starbuzz? or a kilo of tangiers?

Perhaps he charges less per gram when you buy more. I don't really know, but every other brand does that. Maybe if you call and chat a while, order a couple pounds of coconut coal, he will toss you a bonus too. I think you may find him in a generous mood today for some reason. BTW, There is a brand from a gulf state that costs about as much. Not widely distributed, and the name escapes me now. I had not tried it, because of the high price. Now I just might. Not decided on it but sometimes you gets what you pays for. BTW I have smoked this bowl for just over two hours total. It was about 12g . I "flipped the puck" about ten minutes ago and there's good flavor, not rich like at first, but definitely worth smoking. Also a smoothness one would not expect at the end of the bowl. Would I have enjoyed this as much had I paid $9 for 50g? Maybe not. But you can get a cigar for a $1 or $20. I have smoked both kinds, and I'd suggest a similar difference in quality exists between the everyday brands and Smiley's. I can't form a difinite opinion on his whole range, but based on one bowl, I am very, very impressed. This is not to dis Starbuzz or Tangiers, I've really enjoyed both and will continue to. These are premium quality brands in every respect, worthy of a place in your collection.
