Americans For A Free Republic

I'm so incensed by what's going on in Congress right now that I did some surfing. I was actually considering changing parties. And I came across these guys.......... I find them interesting, very interesting.......

Here's the website...............

http://www.afr.org/

I agree with a lot of what they have to say....... I'm curious what other forum members think, especially since we tobacco smokers seem to be under major attack lately. Just one more example of personal freedoms being taken from us. No party is perfect but I'm wondering if they guys are onto something.
To give the reader a hint of what the Conservative American Party and its Two Pillars Strategy will create, imagine America with zero percent inflation every year, a totally neutered Fed that can no longer debase the currency, a simplified 10% flat tax that no longer redistributes wealth and can be figured in ten minutes every April, millions of jobs coming back from overseas, and capital flowing into America from all over the world to recharge our sputtering economy.
Maybe I'm bias toward matters of macroeconomics, but the ideas of a fixed exchange rate regime* and negative net capital outflows are largely exclusive, especially with no other force motivating changes in the value of currency (inflation). Further, how can we expect jobs coming back from overseas with an increasingly strong dollar?

I kind of expected more seeing one of the four bios. was an economics student.

*The exchange rate would, by measure of the rest of the world, not actually remain constant but would tend to over-value our dollar, relative to what we could expect it to be in a floating-point exchange rate regime. Edited by Dr. B

I am SO ready for a grassroots third party to rise up already. I use to consider myself a hardcore republican, but they don't even follow what I believe in anymore! Every single democrat and republican deserves to be kicked out of office. We NEED a third party. The Constitution NEVER NEVER NEVER intended government to become as large as it has today. The Second Amendment is the only thing in the way of the government from swinging the final blow and doing whatever it wants.

Indeed you are correct. Many of the founding fathers warned us against settling for a two party system. You tend to get an us against them attitude. Instead of people thinking for themselves you just get the party line. I personally don"t agree with either party at this time. I define myself as a libertarian but that does not mean I am an anarchist. I see the need for some government, but not the monster that it has become.
We the people are not here to fix everyone's problems. It is not the governments job to make jobs or take care of people. The only real job as drafted by the constitution is roads and wars. That is maintain the infrastructure and protect the nation from foreign interests. I guess I could be defined as a minarchist.

I'm part all about the http://libertarianparty.com/ and http://www.constitutionparty.com/ :). Ron Paul all the way. :P

I would have voted for Ron Paul had he won the nomination but since he didn't I voted for Bob Barr. I was so tired of hearing I was throwing my vote away. The only way real change is going to happen is if everyone voted for the right person and we stop settling for the top two.
I am over this lesser of two evils crap.

This is a fundamental flaw of the two party system. There are plenty of viable third party options. The problem is, there is always one candidate that someone really dislikes, even if they don't like the other one very much. For example, I really didn't agree with many of Obama's policy ideas, so I voted for McCain. I didn't even really like McCain, I thought he had the wrong idea about a lot of things as well. However, I felt that it was my duty to keep the guy out of office that I didn't like the most, so I voted for the candidate that had the best chance at challenging him. A lot of people don't vote for the third party, even if they agree with them 100% because they feel their vote is "wasted" because the third party will not win.

I do honestly think that people are starting to wake up a little and realizing that we have other options. In all honesty, I don't think its going to happen in the next election, or maybe the one after that. But if people start seriously promoting and campaigning for these third parties, they will finally get noticed.

Heres the deal: Everyone is sick of republicans and democrats. They have proven that they are incapable of accomplishing nothing, and the little they do accomplish doesn't actually benefit the whole very much...only small special interests. They govern based on what will get them elected again. Its time for everyone to put their vote where their mouth is and vote for a third party. Your vote is not wasted.... if a third party gets 20% of the votes, that will be a HUGE win, and set the stage for the next election. Even if they do not win, your vote still counted! If a third party starts gaining momentum, then the other two parties will start to stray away from such extremism and we won't have such a polarized capitol.

Some good points made here.

I have been resisting for awhile now but it's probably time I throw in for a third party and vote Socialist.

Nothing will change with any party so long as they are all bought and paid for by corporate interests.

+1
It really pissed me off how Ron Paul got sidelined like that. For the longest time, I've always thought that the republicans and democrats are the same party. Besides, I couldn't fit myself all the way into the agendas either of these parties. I've always said that people should vote for whomever they think will get the job done regardless of what party affiliation. Personally I think the so called "multi party" primary is a joke. There is no such thing. I think its all set up by the media to make people think we actually have a choice. I knew deep down that the choices will always be either republican or democrat regardlesss of how the race ends up. I wonder if Ron Paul will run again. He'll definitely have my vote.

We'll see what 2012 brings us. Yes, things are still really messed up right now, but who knows what will come of it. Unfortunately, I see more joblessness, and a lot of funding of pet projects by state governments to be in the works (read as raised taxes).

socialism has been tryed in this country and failed. Back when we were just governorships everyone had a job. Each man had a quota.
If there was surplus it went into a community fund that would be used if someone couldn't make their quota or there where people who could not work. sounds nice right.everyone chipping in and taking care of those who couldn't take care of themselves. Extreme FAIL.
Everyone did just as little as they could to get by. There was no extra and they almost went broke. Sooo they decided that everyman had a quota but this time he could sell anything extra he did. with that incentive the worker over produced and in abundance. They sold and traded between each other and everyone prospered. They gave to charity and to their churches who then took care of those who needed help. You weren't forced to give you did because you could and you wanted to. there was a sense of community. we have lost this and need to get it back.
If your against big corporation stop giving them your money.

Third parties are great for bringing up issues that people want included on the ballot.

The most likely scenario that will happen is this:
A third party will gain a lot of support based on their platform, one of the two or both major parties will change their platform to consume the main issue the third party is running for, and that third party will essentially disappear.

Historically, this is what happens to third parties.

I hope something does change because I agree that the system is broken. However, we as American citizens have the right of voting for our officials so the only people we can blame are ourselves. The problem lies at the feet of the American voter. Until more people become upset at the current situation and stop voting the same people in year after year, nothing will change.

I know this would NEVER happen, but ideally it would be great if somehow candidates had to run without revealing their party affiliation. This way people would be forced to vote primarily on their beliefs and policies rather than political lines.
