Heba Diffuser Have You Guys Messed Around With....

Recommended Posts

all three pieces to get the right combination?

I tried using all three pieces to just having one. What results did you get?

I think my best was just using the large filter.

Anyone just try using the attachment that hooks on to the stem?

It doesn't "Hydrate" the smoke. Like it says it does. That's nonsense. I think the reasoning behind that is that the bubbles are smaller so the water can, uhh, i guess make the smoke more humid for lack of better terms.

The term Hydrate is used very very loosely here; when used correctly it refers to chemical reactions and also De/Rehydration. Maybe they should say the smoke is "Rehydrated" and it would make more sense.

The diffuser doesn't do anything but tighten your pull and cause less chatter of the tray. After all... smoke doesn't have a way to metabolize water and hydrate itself... right?

yeah i'm with Zen all it does is break up the bubbles, but because there are lots of smaller bubbles rather than some larger bubbles it seems to make it smoother and things don't clank around like usual.

would you be using the small or large one?

as far as not being able to fit the small one on a shaft with a nut you can do it, it just takes some work. heating up the rubber part that slides on to the shaft and then stretching it across does work, takes a few minutes and maybe a stubbed finger.

The only way the smoke will seem more humid is if it's going through two temperature differentials: once to cool it, so it condenses back into liquid, and once to boil it, so it becomes water vapor.

What you're actually experiencing is that the additional bubbles are creating more tubulation in the water. The additional turbulation creates more surface area for the smoke to contact the water, allowing more smoke to condense. The smoke that remains gaseous is inhaled, while the rest becomes liquid and never reaches the hose.

The smoke that's able to condense is more harsh because it's dense from water vapor that has bonded to it. Water in the lungs isn't very pleasant.

This same illusion applies to cooling the water -- you're recieving less smoke, but in its place you're inhaling cold air.

As for buying a diffuser... save your money. You can do the same, if not better, with strips of gauze shoved up the stem and a pen cap with holes on the end. Edited by teq
