Any Singaporean/malaysian Hookah Smokers?

Recommended Posts

Salaam/Greetings people,

Any singaporeans or malaysians here? I desperately want a simple egyptian hookah with the necessaries but I can't seem to find the right place! Help anyone?

If you could provide the shop location anywhere from Singapore or Malaysia, it'll be very very helpful. If you could provide the rough pricing guide, even better!

Note: Please don't mention the shop at Arab St. (singapore) area, that is a tourist place and they jacked the price up like crazy and are merciless when bargaining! haha! biggrin.gif

Thanks!

Hello, I'm from singapore. And I got a shisha pipe for my birthday this year. But my friend bought it at Arab street. It costs about $100. Sorry I don't know any other place. Maybe try finding it online.
More importantly, where to get the tobacco? Those cafes there sell it at about $60 for 120grams of tobacco. Which is extremely expensive. (I'm experimenting home made tobacco)

Yes, the tax for such products are very high. A pack of cigarettes costs $9-$13. And you cannot import tobacco into the country unless you have some license if I'm not wrong.
I still love my country anyhows.

Thanks Mentler for the info!

$100? That's not very bad. How big is it?

Yes, I figure getting the tobacco is a problem in Singapore, like pipe tobacco, I spent a great deal of time searching for it and the price is just unreasonable. Solution? Johor. Haha.. I've heard that there is a shop in Johor which sell Hookah stuffs but I couldn't locate it. Some say, it's at the street shops right opposite City Square, couldn't find it. Some also say at Larkin Bus Interchange, there's a shop selling, I've been there a lot of times, could'nt remember seeing a shop selling hookah or shisha. Another tip is that there's a shop in Plaza Angsana, level 4, called 'Little Egypt' or something, they might stock something. But, I don't know, wanted to go there yesterday but the only road there was moving very slow. :\

Any Malaysians smoker around? Haha.

Thanks guys for the inputs!

Seanji: I agree, I'm ashamed to be here. lol_hitting.gif

That's only slightly worse than Canada. $18 in my city for 50g of Nakhla, ~$9 for a pack of cigarettes.

Order from MNHookah or another online dealer that will ship as a gift and not as tobacco. Edited by gaia.plateau

I'm coming to Singapore on business next month and can't wait, I am so excited, it looks like a really clean, beautiful, friendly place with some great people, culture, religions, and, food! The only downside is this here. I won't even bring my hobohookah in because I have no idea if they would make a big deal out of it in customs. Besides, as we know, you cannot import any tobacco into the country at all, no exceptions for shisha, unfortunately.

I do understand about cigarette smoking, that's bad for you, but someone on one forum here said he was a regular hookah smoker and had an xray of his lungs and they were clean. So, maybe Singapore can update their laws for us?

Off topic, it's a long long way from Europe...15 hours in the air...any tips for combatting boredom? That's the only part I am not looking forward to.
