Anyone Ever...

Recommended Posts

I had twenty candles going earlier, some sandlewood incense, drinking licorice spice tea, and a mix of: 25%pumpkin pie, 32%jamaican rum, and 43%cola(all Hookah Hookah). I was once again having problems with the damn small 3kings coals. I went to rotate, and one need the bottom heated up(it had burned awkardly so that it was a thin disc, yet still same diameter). I lifted it with the tongs and it shattered into multiple pieces on my apartment carpet...grabbed my tea as fast as could and dumped on it.
Roughly 11 tiny holes, a third of them were all the way down, the rest were just a surface burn. Also two large burns roughly a half an inch. ohmy.gif
Started off with a quick cleaning with water. Then got toothpaste and blended it with black and blue pen ink(my carpet is a variation of an indigo and greys), and rubbed it in these areas. Let it sit for 5mins, came back and gave it a quick clean and the color started to set. Then went ahead and grabbed a sewing needle and plucked at the burns. Been at that for the past two hours, now the big ones are semi visible and the small ones are only because of a discoloration during the plucking. I'm leaving it go for now and letting it dry. Will continue tomorrow and redye.

Anyone ever have this happen, have any recommendations to finish off the job?

Many of us are chronic carpet burners. I just use a hair trimmer to shave the carpet down to the level on a slope with surface burns, and cut out the whole chunk on deep burns, then epoxy in a carpet sample over the spot. Or I used to, when I could smoke in the house. Dickwad roommates...

Well, when i smoke inside (usually at a friends since I cant in my house) I always put down a piece of wood. He has a few old cupboard doors he keeps lying around just for smoking. We make kinda a 3'x3' platform on the floor out of them and do all the work over it. Lighting coals, moving coals, packing bowls, ashing is all done over them. If anything drops who cares..

i suggest something like this. Maybe get a baking sheet for cookies and place it under your hookah..

thanks guys, i think I'm gonna make a collapsable wooden, padded interior, box. This way I can store and transport in there, and I can collapse it and have the padded side down and work over the wood...
But I was wondering, my carpet is one of those close knit ones that you can't really cut up, any ideas for the areas that are too hard to pluck out?

Rearrange the room and move a chair/couch over it? I doubt when the realitor or landlord comes in they will by moving couches to check for stuff. once you have your security deposit back you can just claim the landlord did it and you dont know what they did since you have left..

lol, I'm gonna have to move the coach out another 3 feet from the wall, not making the living room very accessible, but that might work. If they try forcing me to pay, I'm gonna refuse with the threat of court just because they charged me for damages last school year I didn't do(different apartment), that they had on record that they were there before I moved in...Cut a big chunk outta my security deposit. When confronted they told me I'd have to get it outta my roommates since all the money was reimbursed to everyone accordingly(they woulda had to lose more while I would lose less...).
I hate Norma White Reality.

I would suggest an area rug. You can get them at kmart for 4.99. for 3 x3 ? or 8.99 for a medium sized one about 6 by 3 feet. they are braided and not all that great looking but save the carpet underneath!

Ps I have burber carpet. THE MOST HORRID CARPET in the world. Mine is grays, greens, taupes and reds? It's kind of hard to cover black pock marks and make them blend in on mine. So i just leave them. Not my problem. It will be the next persons who purchases the house.

Yeah, I grabbed a 4'6"x6'6"ish one for $15 at Ikea. I've had a few coal accidents since, and it's kept them from reaching the carpet beneath.

also i recommend the shaving method, i used it yesterday afternoon.

take a sharp knife and shave a wide area of carpet, collecting the shavings in front of you then put the shavings in the burned areas and pour water to make it look used. it works perfectly and will trick any apartment manager

More accurate title would be "Has anyone ever not burned there carpet?" tongue.gif

Ive got tons of little burns, but cant see any. Hell one time a piece sat for a good while before i noticed it tongue.gif That sucked; only reason i did notice it was that smell of burnt carpet.

I won't have to worry, they don't spend a dime on these places, its pure profit...they charge you for cleaning when you move out, yet when I moved in there was macaroni noodles on the floor among tons of other things....they won't be cleaning it.
To show their profit...my place is a shanty shack, zilch on the maintanance and yet one of the realitors has a Ferarri...fuckers

at my last place I burned a deep hole about the size of a nickel. When I was moving, I had the carpet cleaner guys over, and I asked them if there was anything they knew to do. I have no idea what the hell they did, but after they were done I didnt even notice it until I got on the ground and looked closely, so maybe just wait untill you are about to move, and ask the carpet cleaner guys.

I made the silly mistake of pulling the hookah by the hose, instead of picking it up properly. It spilled, and a coal burned a hole in the carpet, that was less than a month old.
