Rust-proofing

Recommended Posts

So I have this friend that came up with the idea of using Rust-oluem rust preventative on his hookah's base to stop rust. We both have stargates so I too have a metal base and want the rust protection, but am hesitant about using such a product on a hookah. As much as I want to do all I can to prevent rust, spray paint does not sound like the best idea....

Other ideas, comments, suggestions?

Doing a bit of research: RustOleum has a high heat spray made of grills. The spray is good up to 1200 F plus has rust protection. And naturally, grills are constantly in contact with food, so it is safe in that aspect. Temperature protection is not really a big concern since it will be in water.

I'm still looking for opinions on this idea. Still a bit hesitant about the whole thing.

EDIT: The grill paint is not approved to be in contact with food.

How about resin, the type you can preserve things in, like leaves and bugs and such? Edited by Cybersist
