  1. Wrap some electrical tape around the end of the stem until it will fit nice and snug
  2. I like the above idea. If you could somehow find a small enough electric stove coil and mount it above the bowl that could possibly work. You would have to find the sweet spot for the right amount of heat you turn the coil up to and the distance from the bowl, but I don't see how that could be too hard to manage.
  3. The first one I made was with a beer can. The current one is with a Sobe can because it is taller. My 20 oz bottle portable hookah uses a bottom and top piece that lock together so the coals can't fall off.
  4. Use the tongs to pull the fruit back out. If you made it fit, it should come out the same way.
  5. Since my last post I have made a more reliable tray, made a coke can wind cover, and also made a 20 oz portable hookah that makes clouds as big as the large hookahs as the local bar. This should be perfect for camping. I made the wind cover on the portable hookah so that you could turn it upside down and the coals still wont spill. I cut a can in half and the top and bottom can be pressed together to make a nice tight seal. This also helps save some coals.
  6. What do you mean when you break a coal in half it seems like it doesn't want to work? You need to disperse the heat a little bit like mush said. If you put the entire coal on it, then you will just burn that part and it will ruin it. Try breaking it into quarters like mush said and putting them around the edges. Also, I have had great luck with a coke can windcover for insulating the heat on the bowl. It fits perfectly over my standard bowl.
  7. Chrome is right. The more direct heat you can get, the better. I used to have to ash like crazy to keep the coals red hot, but I use a windcover made from a can now. The coals last about 1 1/2 times longer and I don't have to ash anywhere near as much.
  8. It makes heat management easier definitely, but then you need a little more heat to get it perfect. It has its pros and cons.
  9. QUOTE (Steemax @ Apr 21 2008, 02:45 PM) actualy here are a couple vids that prove cigs are worse, first off this is a vid of 400 ciggs filtered through water, keep in mind that my hookah water wont change color even after 5 heads on the same water, just the juice that seeps down the stem. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ln2OI_vEqH0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsc4r3I2Pgc after this point if you still dont believe, then you sir are stubborn. also to add my grandpa smoked hookah for 50 years, he is now 82, went for a lung exam and one of those things that show how it looks like inside, didn't even cross the docs mind to ask if he smokes, very clean. and so I come to conclusion that you did a healthy choice to kick that habit, hookah on! Good call on that second video. If this doesn't stop the arguments, then I don't know what will.
  10. Rootbeer Float First Impression: It smelled incredible and I had just enough for one bowl. Super fine cut with no stems. Setup: Home-made hookah, home depot hose, standard bowl, foil, water and ice in base Flavor: 10/10 Incredible flavor once I added more heat Smoke: 10/10 Again, with a little more heat it was perfect Duration: 7/10 We stopped smoking after a while because we had to constantly put coals on Buzz: ??? Non-existant Overall: 8.5/10 I really liked this flavor a lot, but maybe if it was unwashed and not as fine of a cut my friends would have liked it more. I liked it, but my friends hated the non-existant buzz.
  11. I got mine today and I'll be smoking it tonight to put up a review. Thanks again guys. My candy cane was busted open, but the rootbeer float still had all the juices
  12. It's from NBA Jam guys. Come one, did nobody have a SNES?
  13. I am amazed that many people like the blacks. I have grown to hate them over time compared to Djarum Supers. They advertise that the supers use a special clove blend different from the others. The supers last probably 1.5-2x longer than a regular Bali Hai. If you liked the lights or bali hai's, I recommend trying the supers.
