1. IMO, the best coals out there are Hookah John's QLs. The best of both worlds really.... longevity, no taste or smell and quick lightning. Been using them since summer, was never disappointed. Just got 3 boxes in fact
2. From my personal experience, it's not worth it. U'll have to block one pipe for someone else to smoke trough the other. I just block the hose port with a bottle cork... Works like a charm then Bottom line... get a normal single-hosed KM.
3. I hope your girl would be better soon stu. Our thoughts and prayers will be with her.
4.
Have you tried pulling directly from the hose port?
I sound like Dr Obvious.... lol

6. Different to what you may believe, a longer hose does not affect the temperature of the smoke, and the shorter / taller the hookah is doesn't make any difference in the overall hookah experience. What you should be looking for is to buy a branded and quality hookah like a MYA, or better still if you can afford it, a classic Khalil Mamoon, or KM If u are inexperienced you should get yourself some nice fool proof shisha like Nakhla (any flavor you want, but IMHO cherry is the easiest to setup, and most flavourful) or Al Fakher (Been hearing about Al Waha but haven't tried it yet), and decent QL's or Quick Lighting charcoal from a brand like 3 Kings. If you have a combination of the above you shouldn't go wrong. When packing a standard bowl (egyptian/Mya/Mod) pack shisha just enough to fill the bowl up to the brim, and be careful not to pack it too tight. Cut a piece of foil large enough to be folded in two or three layers, then cover the bowl with it. Start poking small - medium holes using a toothpick from the edge of the bowl to the center in a circular fashion, covering it with holes. Next, Fill up the base with water, just enough so that the tip of stem is just below the water. In the meantime, light up the charcoal and wait for it to be completely red before putting it on the bowl. Attach the bowl to the hookah stem (don't forget the bowl grommet) and place the red coals on top. Plug the hose in the hookah (again don't forget the grommet) and In about 2 minutes, you should be puffing away Most basic things that could go wrong in a hookah setup are air leaks and improper heat management. When you get hold of the basics, there is literally TONS of things that you can experiment with, change and experience, like unwashed tobacco, natural coals, Phunnel bowls, etc..... For now you should be all set. If any needs arise, don't hesitate to post your questions Chris
7. I would love to experience the pinnacle of hookah smoking from the pros.... thing is I would have to cross the Atlantic ocean With some luck I'll come next year to celebrate my graduation, if you're still open Eric
8. Combo bowls are a bitch to work with during a session.... main problem is the metal heats up so bad due to the coals, you wouldn't be able to pry it open without mitts. And that would be overly clumsy to do. That kinda makes coal management impossible. And it's like redjako said.... Metals dont handle heat as well as ceramics. Would love to see this prototype working though
9. I'm gonna give it a try, though I don't have mad PS or Illustrator skills.... just the basics that Iearnt from school What do u know, maybe in two months time I'll have a Nammor on my doorstep
10. I'm gonna go with Saint's idea and upgrade it to : English breakfast Toast with baked beans, bacon and boiled egg ^^ Or, how about chinese mild chili chicken? anyone?
11. I always smoke with my friends, so it could be chatting, poker or drinking games
12.
Well, this is a common theme of late. And i'll address it if I may. What we have in this forum is a dedicated core of people who call it home. We also have atleast 3 other forums still active and drawing people where as at one tiem we were the only real hookah forum around. As pointed out above, we ALWAYS slow down over the summer and during school breaks. As also pointed out, soem people come, get their answers and leave. Always has worked that way. And no we don't have big give aways because we dont have any real vendor advertising. And we don't give away shisha for the most posts as some other places do. What we are is a dedicated group of hookah smokers talking about what we love and helping people who come by with questions. And if you use the advanced settings as intended the search engine can be quite helpful, but YOU have to put in a little effort because unlike any of the other forums we have posts going back 5 or 6 YEARS. Its not that the search engine sucks so much as there is a LOT more information to draw on than in other newer hookah forums. And since we arent supported by advertising our traffic isn't nearly as important as what we talk about. I also suggest checking the number of visitors we have each day. While we may only have 20 or so registered users on at one time our guests often top 70 or 80 in the last 30 minutes as being reported. People look to us whether or not they make an account and post. and finally WTF happened to our video section?? I'll call adrock later this afternoon cause we used to have one. If necessary I'll restart the Video sub forum again. Mushrat
While your statement is very good and makes a lot of sense, it may not apply to everyone. In my example: HookahForum is my number one source of information on everything hookah. I regularly login to the site and read stuff, but sometimes I find it hard to give advice, even though I've been smoking hookah with my friends for these past two years. There are plenty of stuff which I have still yet to experience, like unwashed tobacco and natural coals. So I always leave it up to the pros On the other hand, in the General and Serious section, I occassionaly find myself hitting a barrier (call it ethnical / cultural) when trying to participate in some threads, due to their American nature. (This happens especially when you folk talk about the government, taxes, college, etc) Stuff in Europe is a bit different So due to my lack of information about the subjects, I always stay away from the post box. I have never had any problem with this forum or it's users, It has on countless times helped me and tons of others, so all that I have to say is.... keep it up you guys. BTW, I absolutely LOVE the site's new design, it gave HF the polished and professional look it much deserves Chris
13. Personally, I would go with the Droid, which apart from a nice slide-out keyboard, it's also loaded with the Android OS, which is basically the future of mobile phones. It's an open source OS which is highly customizable, very powerful and has increased dramatically in popularity. There's even an app store for Android.
14. Something Mya with a plastic vase, I personally use a Mya Acrylic for my beach trips 2 3Kings QLs paired with a phunnel and some nice nakhla shisha... cant beat that xD... Just dont forget ice cold water, and tongs. Just a side-note.... As soon as you get back home, wash / rinse your hookah with soapy water to remove any sand / saltwater rash that may have landed on it.. My stem's silver plating has started to peel off cuz I didnt wash it for about three days, and that kinda water corrodes. Don't worry, if you take good care of your hookah it will take good care of you Personally sessions at the beach are what I enjoy the most... with friends, meeting new people, the breeze... Sensational xD
