  1. I recently found a place called Salam's in Manchester. They sell Al Fakher shisha almost exclusively. They have 250 gram tubs for about $12. In addition to the shisha, they have a number of different type of coals including quick-lights and natural coals. They also have about 20 hookahs behind the counter for sale. It a great place, the people are super helpful and friendly. It's definitely worth checking out.
  2. This is just dumb. I hope this is all just a yolk...
  3. I recently bought one 250 gram jar of Strawberry Nakhla from H-S. Upon arrival, the jar had leaked a bit and the lid was not quite air tight. H-S was nice enough to send me a second jar for free, no questions asked. The second jar arrived in the same condition. It had leaked into the shipping box and the lid was not tightly sealed to the jar. So, I now had 500 grams of Nakhla that was pretty much bone dry. I was frustrated with the product and service that I received from Hookah-Shisha, so I set out to solve the problem myself. I came across a few posts that mentioned you could fix dry shisha with a bit of vegetable glycerin. I bought 4oz of a recommended brand from Amazon.com and tried it out today. Using one tablespoon at a time I added the vegetable glycerin to the shisha. After 3 table spoons, I mixed the batch by shaking it in the container. I thought it needed a bit more glycerin, so I added one more tablespoon and shook it up again. It seemed to do the trick. So for anyone else looking for similar results I would recommend at least 4 tablespoons for 500 grams of tobacco. I know that Nak is usually a bit dryer that some of the other shishas on the market, so I made sure it's not as moist as Tangiers or AF. I'm letting everything sit for the night and I am going to try smoking it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works out.
  4. QUOTE (hookah hippie @ Aug 19 2009, 04:38 PM) I think he meant to type 25.00 hookah that makes more sense I think I'll contact him/her and find out. There's no way someone would ask that much and expect anyone to make an offer.
  5. I found this in my Google Reader feed from Craig's List today. It was too ridiculous not to share with everyone. First the description... "Antique Saudi Decorative Hookah - $2500 This antique decorative hookah or (Hubbly Bubbly) was given to my parents as a gift by a member of the royal family of Saudi Arabia and passed down to me. Due to harsh economic conditions I am forced to sell it although I'd rather not but I need the money. If interested please call xxx-xxx-xxxx. Cash Only, you pick up." First of all, I think it's hilarious that someone realizes that the economy sucks right now, but is ballsy enough to ask $2500 for a hookah. Second, $2500 for a hookah?? That damn thing better have a genie in it too. Here's a picture. Tell me what you think.
  6. QUOTE (giant ninja robot @ Aug 7 2009, 07:34 PM) !!! I had a friend ruin the best tangiers session ive ever had by blowing into the hose. still makes me mad thinking about it. I feel your pain... Maybe it's time to start a "support group". Forum members can login and discuss their most emotionally and psychologically damaging moments when they smoked with idiots. It's a step on the road to recovery...
  7. People who take huge hits off the hookah and inhale way too hard. I have a smaller hookah that I use when friends come over and the same guy always takes these massive hits and inhales as hard as he can... Always manages to get water up in the hose. I hate that! Oh, and once I had someone blow into the hose to clear it of some harshness and she ends up blowing into the hose as hard as she can... water manages to go up the stem, into the bowl, ruining the coal and the entire session.
  8. QUOTE (Zinite @ Aug 6 2009, 08:25 PM) http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/conf...;idproduct=2064 Is that it? That will work. Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated.
  9. This is smoking pretty well so far. I'd like to find a new gasket/grommet for it- where the glass connects to the stem. If anybody knows where to get one or how to make one, I'm all ears.
  10. It's been a great day for me, I finally got around to buying a new hookah. Well, technically, it's a "new to me" hookah. I found this on Craig's List this morning and thought it was a bargain at only $40. Its a single hose, rotating base hookah. The guy I bought it from said he bought it in Egypt, but I have some doubts... what do you guys think? I cant wait to try this out tonight. I'll post some more pictures once I get this guy smoking! In any case, here are some pictures of the new hookah. Not bad for $40, right? My new hookah (green) next to my first one, for size comparison. New hookah with a Gatorade bottle, for size comparison.
