Homemade Diffuser

So, I thought I would do a post about my little project.

I saw the shisha diffuser on hookah-shisha, and thought it was interesting, but didn't want to spend $10 on it, just to find out whether the supposed effects, were an improvement on the smoking experience or not. Another reason I wanted to make an attempt to make one is because the ones sold online generally don't fit a KM, without some modification. (I also just thought it would be a fun project) I'll post more on this as I come up with different prototypes.

My first thought in making my own diffuser, was using a tea infuser. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's the device that holds in the tea leaves while the tea is being soaked in water. It's like a strainer for tea.

I originally wanted to find a plastic infuser, but found out that it was pretty hard to find, without spending more then $10 (for the product and shipping). I have yet to use my metal tea infuser, which looks like this:

I'll have to find a rubber gasket first that will fit onto the bottom half of the infuser, in order to fit it onto my KM downstem.

Today I found some modelling wiremesh (100% aluminum) that is used for paper mache, and clay molding, etc. I used the bottom half of my tea infuser has a model to form the mesh around. It's really easy to cut, so you can get the half dome shape pretty easily. Right now im still working on how im going to attach it to my downstem, maybe a wire, or another rubber gasket. Heres a photo of the wireform im using, and the mesh mold I made: (i might folding in the top half to create a lip, which could possibly fix onto the downstem)

Im trying to keep any harmful substances away from the water, which is why im staying away from using glue (although that would make things a lot easier).

Well turns out that the KM I got from Nazar doesn't even have the usual belled bottom of a KM so theres not much of a point in continuing this little project. I still might work on a diffuser though, we will see.

some will say makes the hookah cleaner and better others like myself will call it a silenser or stealth mode adapter becuase it eliminates the rumble sound when taking a draw

lol 'stealth mode'. I think i'd be lost without the rumble.

I seen a video where a guy took a bottle cap, poked holes in it, and squeezed it into a grommet and it seemed to work pretty good. Not very pretty though.
