Buying a hookah soon, but from where?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a hookah within the next few months and
I'd like some opinions on where to order from as I can't find any place
within a reasonable driving distance to buy from in person.
I'm looking for a site that has:

1) Affordable prices
2) Quality products
3) As much free stuff with the purchase as possible
4) Fair shipping rates to Canada (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan particularily)
5) Reliable customer service

I've checked out a few sites and found that either the hookahs or the
shipping is way out of line. If the company resides in Canada, all the
better, but I'll bite the bullet with shipping if I have to.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I've only tried the little pipe once so far, with mixed results.
The smoke was plentiful and flavourful, and the tobacco did not
burn.  However, I used a full coal on it and I think that this was
too much heat for the little fella.  The water bulb is quite small
so little cooling occured.  The smoke I was inhaling got quite
warm.  I didn't finish the bowl because the hot smoke didn't go
very well with the food I was eating at the time.  Next time I
think I'll try half a coal or even 1/4 coal to avoid this
situation.  I'll post again next time I smoke the wee pipe.

Maybe a new thread is in order...

I bought my hookah from hooka4u.com....they had by far the best prices and good shipping to Canada. They had problems with their shipping staff at the time so my hookah arrived broken but I got a full refund instantly and ended up being able to fix it/buy a new base. I was happy with the service and value though so would buy from the again. They're currently supdating their stock but should be back online soon hopefully.
Otherwise, smoking-hookah is in fact best for shipping, to Canada but their ma'assel sucks (they have a very limited selection of only nakhla) Hoookacompany has decent deals and allrigth shipping to Canada and also apparently ship discreetly. Hookah-Shisha also have some great deals on their discounted hookahs.
Anything over $20 or $60 declared value if sent as a gift wil incur duty and tobacco is generally excluded from this so if they mail it as a gift they still cannot list the tobacco or you'll have to pay duty. Apparently Canada Customs also now open all parcels from the state which has been true for me in the last month with everything I've ordred. My coals were opened etc the last tiem I rodered but they tape it all shut again so it's not that big of a deal. You should be prepared to pay anpther $20-30 in duties though....My $30 US hookah and 350 grams of ma'assel cost me almost $25.....
Now for another question to my fellow Canadians...does anyone know where to buy good ma'assel in Toronto? If not, what's the best/chepatest place to order online from the states? My store has increased their prices to $9 for 50 grams and $29 for 250 grams of Naklha which I dont' care for too much anyways so I'm beginning to thinke evn with duty rodering from the states may be cheaper?? Any input would be appreciated :)

Nathalie,

$30 CDN for 250 grams is pretty standard retail price for shisha in
Canada.  In Kingston it's $30 for stale crap that's been sitting
on a shelf for a year.

I have a friend in Ottawa who buys for $30 as well.  He say's the
tobacco is fresh at least.  I think Ottawa has the highest
middle-eastern population in Canada, therefore one would think that it
would be the best place to score cheap, good quality tobacco.
That has not been my friend's experience.  Now that's not to say
his is the only opinion out there.

I think CDN retailers buy their tobacco retail, not wholesale and then
pay taxes and mark it up.  I think online ordering is your best
bet, as long as you can get it snuck through customs.  I'm three
for three in not paying import duties (1 order from Hookah-shisha.com
and 2 from smoking-hookah.com)

I recommend Smoking-hookah.com to other Canadians because of their
cheap shipping (only $8 USD).  They also ship fast, within a
week.  Their selection of tobacco is limited to one brand
though.  It's not everyone's favourite...Nakhla.  But the
price is right for me.  Other websites charge around $25 USD for
shipping to Canada.
