Smoke From Coal Or Tobacco

Me and my brother are having a debate as to where the smoke comes from

my brother says that if you put just coal on top with no flavor you would still get smoke

i disagree because ive heard that the tobacco has glycerin which is the main chemical which helps produce smoke,

care to shed some light?

I would say that about 99% of the smoke is from the shisha.

Think about when you light the coal- it only smokes a little bit initially (if it's a quicklight). If you blow on it after that, there isn't any smoke to speak of.

It is completely from the shisha. If you place a coal with no tobacco in the bowl you will not get any smoke. If you do then it will probably be the residue of previous sessions. However, if you apply heat to the shisha from any other source, you will see vapour or smoke coming from the evaporating glycerine.

Yeah, charcoal are used because they are smokeless. The sheesha produces all the smoke, which is really just vaporized glycerine. BBQ grills smoke only when stuff is falling and burning on the charcoal.
