Officers said they broke up a fight at 401 NW 16th Street and arrested
Danny Kavali, 20, of Corvallis, just after 1 a.m.

“Kavali began punching and kicking three men and two women inside.
Kavali then used a hookah (water pipe) that was about three feet tall,
made of glass and metal, as a weapon,” said Lt. Ron Noble with the
Corvallis Police Department.

Kavali was charged with burglary in the first degree, assault in the
second degree, assault in the fourth degree, menacing, strangulation and
unlawful use of a weapon.

Noble said Kavali was also stabbed several times with a pair of scissors
during the fight.

“Kavali assaulted one male victim with the hookah when he swung the
hookah like a bat and struck the male victim in the back. Kavali also
punched and kicked a second male, and menaced him with a lance-like
portion of the broken hookah,” Noble said. “Kavali was stabbed with a
pair of scissors by the second male victim when Kavali tried to attack
him with the pointed end of the broken hookah.”

Kavali and two of the other men were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital
for injuries sustained in the fight.

The suspect is now behind bars in the Benton County Jail.
