Vinson
Hah. It is acclimating right now. Today I'm going to use my Mya bowl instead of my Tangiers bowl. Maybe having 4 coals was just too much. I'll let you know something in a few days about the Passion Fruit.

The smoke was hot and way to thick even though i put my base in the freezer for about 45 minutes. I couldnt even take a full hit of the stuff but as soon as i took off one of the coals it was as good as gold.
haraldsmith
YES tangiers tobacco kicks my ass.. i've tried fline cocoa and orange soda so far, and i can only take small hits..is this a sign of too much heat, or am i just not used to this.. and if so, how long will it take to get used to this tobacco? setup// pipe: qt bowl: phunnel holes: one ring around outside, one ring around inner hole coals: 4 japanese charcoals, one at north, east, west, south of bowl foi: normal aluminum foil pack: same texture as the container, and lightly packing it in with my palm after putting foil
ASUSEAN1
tangiers tobacco seems harder to smoke but i got use to it with a couple hits. you may want to try to take a coal off and see if that helps any. if tht doesnt help than take off one more. You may also want to break up the tobacco a little bit. may help with the heat management when you have less coals. otherwise your going to have to just deak with it. yashman19
QUOTE (haraldsmith)setup// coals: 4 japanese charcoals, one at north, east, west, south of bowl Gotta change your heat management. I normally smoke all my tobacco with two large natural finger coals on the bow, on opposite sides of the bowl from each other, and this was way too much for Tangiers... Instead now I use one natural finger, and I break it into 4 SMALL piecies and evenly space those around my bowl. This is way less heat than what I was normally doing, but I still get thick clouds. Tangiers tobacco requires much less heat, and if you have too much heat in one spot, only that spot will get hot, and most of the time it will start to burn. So you have to use light heat all around the bowl, no concentrated heat. You say you're using 4 japanese charcoals on the four corners. Instead, try using two, and break those two into two pieces, for a total of four smaller pieces, and place them as you were, around the bowl. Sonthert
Yeah, sometimes, when the weather changes, the Tangiers smoke is exceptionally rough to take, especially unacclimated. When smoking properly, you should barely notice you're smoking something full-nicotine. Yash speaks truely, less heat will make a difference. As winter sets in, you will notice the tobacco getting drier...just acclimate well, and you will be OK.
