Packing Your Bowl

When you pack a bowl should the shisha be touching the foil? I smeared a pinch of shisha on the bottom of my bowl last night, and the foil was off the shisha probably half a inch, and the smoke was great. I didn't get any harsh scratches at the back of my throat. The last time I had smoked the shisha was touching the foil, and it burned to the foil and was harsh.

Doesn't matter if it touches or not. as long as you manage ur heat right you'll be good to go.

You can have a good session if the shisha is touching the foil just a little bit, but the more it touches the higher the chances of it ruining your session.

for best results, the shisha should be a half inch away from touching the foil. also, like what OC4111 said, manage the heat well. once the coals need to be ashed, ash them and then rotate the coals.

I would NOT recommend that. If my shisha was that far way it'd burn. Mine usually touches the foil a little.

How would it burn it if it ISN'T touching the shisha? When the shisha was touching my shisha it was burned, and it became awful to smoke.

mine always touches the foil. Never had a problem with burning.

IMO, heat management is the same, weather its touching or not.

I usually overpack my bowls and I rarely, if ever burn the shisha. That said, I do tend to my coals as it should be done. Half an inch? That sounds rediculous. If I packed my shisha 1/2 an inch from the foil there'd be maybe 5 grams in there...not nearly enough.

It would burn because if the shisha is a 1/2 inch from the foil then there's not enough in the bowl. more shisha=more juice=more resistance to burning.

That does not realllllllllly matter, but I try and make sure that the tobacco is sitting slightly below thew tip of the bowl.
