i could never use booze to clean my hookah..... seems like a waste. i mean.... afterwards you pour it down the drain. the thought of pouring vodka or beer directly down the drain..... its.....its just not right.... its alcohol abuse

Well, basically what I did to clean my QT last night.. I mixed lemon juice and water in the base - a mixture of about 10% lemon juice, 90% water. I let the base sit overnight - dumped it out in the morning, rinsed it out with water, proceeded to let it air dry. Is the 10% lemon juice enough - or do I need to add more? And would I be better off letting it sit for longer - say until my next smoke?

Also, for the stem and the bowl I let them sit in lemon juice and water overnight as well, also which I proceeded to rinse out with water and allow them to air dry.

Are these methods going to be effective enough for continued use? Any suggestions on how I could modify these methods and do something more effective would be appreciated.

And possibly a couple more tips/methods on cleaning the hoses? (if it's really even necessary?)

with the hose, its only necessary when you're getting old flavors in it. Most people recommend against it, but I've had no problems...just make sure to thoroughly dry your hoses

for sure baking soda and lemon juice, never EVER let me down. gets rid of any smell and clean the stem and base out very well. if you want to get it super clean put some baking soda on the brush and brush it through with a little lemon juice too

Haha, yeah. Well yesterday I went and bought some tupperware containers - one to let the stem and bowl soak in. I guess I mixed it about 10% lemon juice and 90% water.. Is that potent enough or do I need to get some more lemon juice in there?

Thanks.

Everyone keeps mentioning Vodka to clean your hookah, but rubbing alcohol is a bunch cheaper and more concentrated. As long as you make sure it is rinsed is there anything wrong with using it. It works well for me.
