Mt. Yukon
I just cant seem to get them to smoke for any longer than 10 minutes without having to go light anotherone up. Ive got a 2 hose Syrian Chiller, stock bowl and metal screen. Theyll do fine when I put them on there, but fastforward 10 minutes and I have to go put another coal on a hotplate. Dont wanna give up on em, but quicklights are just too easy to use at this point. Any suggestions???
mushrat
Bulk charcaol is a bitch. You have to get them lit all the way through and you have to keep smoking with them. If you aren't hitting the hookah, they will go out. I'm not sure how big the pieces you are using are, but you may be able to step up the size without burning your tobacco. Also, when I use bulk natural coal, I just keep a pile buring at all times, wasteful but you always have a coal.Try Some finger coals, a compromise between bulk and ql's.My .

EternalSoil
I actually dont really have any problem with quicklights tasting bad... ill try harder to see if i can taste a difference next time. I use exoticas now because they last longer than my 3K do.
Victim026
Yukon, do yourself a favor and buy some Exotica coals. They take about 5 minutes on the stove to light, don't impart any taste that I can tell, and I can usually get a half a stick to last 1 1/2-2 hours or basically a full session.
