The King Posted September 2, 2007 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Well, I'm about 99% sure I'm going to order a mya vortex tomorrow or tuesday... I've read so many instances of mya's glass shattering from pressure when removing the stem though. So what I'd like to know, is gas anyone with the vortex had any trouble with theirs? The person that comes to mind about being anti-mya is asusean i think is the name... so yeah, i understand that a lot of mya's glass has gone downhill, but is this model still pretty durable? cus i have some shitty luck and I know I'll break something if it's super fragile like what I've heard about the mya pyramids Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jubs Posted September 2, 2007 Share Posted September 2, 2007 I personally don't know from experience but I would assume people are breaking the Qt's from pressure applied from either trying to get the stem on or off. The Diva has a screw on base so I think that would help with the problem of breaking from putting on or taking off the stem... MechAnt Posted September 2, 2007 Share Posted September 2, 2007 Vortex bases are gorgeous but from my experience, the glass is thin and soft. In general, all Mya frosted glass bases are fragile. aldonb1 Posted September 2, 2007 Share Posted September 2, 2007 eh... acrylics are tanks, i just think they are ugly. I have a 1.5 year old MYA bohemian and that thing is a tank as well. It has taken swan dives off my sink twice so far and it is perfectly fine. Maybe I'm just lucky. I have heard that the new glass on the MYA's suck but i dono, go to a store and feel it if u can. waterboi Posted September 3, 2007 Share Posted September 3, 2007 I just got my Vortex a couple of weeks ago. As long as you are careful with the base and handle it with care you should be okay.
