  1. I would have to go with either SB Pumpkin Pie or Nakhla 2 Apple. The Nakhla is just a classic flavor to me -- the definition of what smoking a hookah is like. But that Pumpkin Pie is pretty tasty, and very flavorful.
  2. My only advice would be -- be very careful. Having lived in Russia, I know (thankfully not first-hand) what improperly distilled liquor can do to you. Make sure your homebrew setup is safe and hygienic.
  3. QUOTE (MechAnt @ Nov 5 2007, 02:17 PM) So that's what the dimple in the coal is for! That is actually a really cool thing. Yup -- it works pretty well, although some people are bothered by quicklites in church just like they bother some people while smoking. Someone I know just wrote an article advocating churches to use natural coals -- so I responded by plugging Exotica. :-P
  4. I love haggling. I had fun in Russia -- my accent is pretty good, so I would haggle someone down way below what a tourist would get, then when they were packing it up mention, "Yeah, I'm a student from America, just visiting..." :-)
  5. QUOTE (garykainz @ Nov 5 2007, 12:16 PM) that's awesome. your church doesn't thumb their noses at hookah? it is smoking afterall I know many, many church folks -- even ministers -- who smoke. :-) Most of them smoke cigarettes, but hookah is not a problem.
  6. So I'm a minister in a group that is very "high church" -- incense, bells, all that stuff. And I ran across a link today that connected that up with my love of hookah, strangely. I know a lot of places that use incense for church use 3 Kings coals, and of course many hookah smokers use them as well. Today I saw a post that linked to this site -- apparently 3 Kings sells church incense! I'm told that 3 Kings incense is actually used at Vespers at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican! Not sure if anyone will care, but I was really amused by the convergence between those two parts of my life. I was especially surprised that 3 Kings is so highly regarded for its incense!
  7. Yup, I've used one with hookah-shisha and had no problem either. QUOTE (thegreengoblin707 @ Nov 5 2007, 02:07 AM) Does your card have a Visa logo? Then yes. A debit card with a Visa logo can act as a credit card too! At least that was the case with my M&T check card. I did it all the time. I didn't have to pay the $1 fee for using debit card unless I asked for cash back (then I'd say it is a debit card). At least in the past, this was not always the case. I remember trying to place an overseas book order back in college (around 2002) with my debit card and being unable to do it, because there was some difference in processing a Visa debit card vs. a credit card. I don't know whether that still affects some vendors, but it used to be that way.
  8. Can't help you with South Carolina, but if you're ever up in the Raleigh-Durham area in NC, let me know.
  9. QUOTE (Johnny_D @ Nov 3 2007, 10:16 AM) Just one comment - When you click on the meditterian menu, make it open another tab. It stops people navigating away from your page. Done -- thanks for the suggestion. BTW, the new front page is here -- you can't get to it from the sub-pages right now: http://www.hookahbliss.com/newindex.php Hopefully the photo gallery will be done early next week.
  10. Your best bet is going to be Middle Eastern restaurants, I would guess. I know I saw like a Lebanese restaurant last fall when I was over for work that had hookahs -- I think it was on rue Daguerre, just south of Avenue du Maine, in the 14th. There's an Indian restaurant right next door to it. Also, while you're in Paris, you MUST check out Amorino (www.amorino.fr). It's the best gelato ever. If you go to the Lebanese place I mentioned above, there's an Amorino at the other end of rue Daguerre. There are a few others around the city -- it's much better than Berthillon.
  11. QUOTE (ASUSEAN1 @ Oct 25 2007, 07:36 PM) welcome to the forum mush has a good shop to test out different brands of tobacco. I'm here on the forums because I've been a regular at mush's shop. I started coming a few weeks after he opened this spring. :-) sm5sfe -- I live in Durham, just off 9th St. I'd be happy to hang out some time, just PM me your contact info. I'm at the Bliss a lot (mush's shop, in CH), often earlier in the evening on weekends or on Tues-Wed.
  12. I lost interest when the Cubbies got knocked out. The Red Sox and the Orioles are the only teams I really follow in AL, so I hope the Sox bring it home, but I'm not really watching the games at this point.
  13. I was present for the initial attempts to get smoke out of this monstrosity -- and wisely fled! :-) Mush is brave for even trying. The grape smell was pretty nice, though -- perhaps leftovers could be used for potpourri!
  14. I smoke just about everything in my phunnel (no mod) and it works fine -- it's usually better than the standard bowls.
  15. Another vote for AW Orange Cream here -- it's tasty.
