1. about to open a new hookah lounge. People around here are getting very excited about it (in a good way, heh) and I've even been approached by others in neighbouring provinces about franchising. Pretty flattering as we're still finalizing construction! I've set up a new twitter account for it at @HubBubLounge. Follow if you want to hear the complaining about bureaucratic hoops to jump through as well as (I hope) the successes.
2. some of you may remember when I starvedmyself this summer to call attention to the dangers of poor eatinghabits and fad diets. As part of my recovery from thedangerous stunt (don't try this at home), I was given a bike to ridearound on by a locak bike shop, building muscle back up with a lowimpact workout. I hadn't been on a bike since I was about 9, but Iwas quickly hooked. Within 5 weeks I was up to 50 km/day. So... I've partnered with Prostate CancerCanada (since they only get a fraction of the funding that the pinkribbon bunch get), and will be riding my bike from coast to coastacross Canada from St. John's NL to Victoria, BC to raise prostatecancer awareness and hopefully some funding for them. I need a bit of help though - if youcould take a minute to click 'like' for the Facebook page, that'd beawesome. Sponsors respond to potential eyeballs better than anythingelse: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Strong-And-Free/113375188731660 If you're interested, you can check out http://www.strongandfree.org to followalong. If you're really interested, I'm looking for people to join mefor a leg or two on my travels! Get out your bike, generate somepledges, and ride alongside me! Details will be posted on the mainsite soon.
3.
except that the dude did supersize me because there was no research in that field. what your doing has already been done and expressed to people in many different forms...not that im against you doing this video, but i dont see how starving yourself on video is going to help anyone..
Well, the people writing to me so far telling me the blog has made them rethink their target weight, and to focus not on a number on a scale but on eating right overall, tells me it's already helping people - and I'm not yet 1/4 way through
4.
I really hope you aren't being serious. Starving yourself with only so few calories has a very detrimental effect on your metabolism.
As I said in my original post, that's the point of this project; to show the negative effects of this to prevent people from thinking it's acceptable. Think of it like "Supersize me", but with anorexia and bulimia.
5. I work around a number of models and actresses, and was tired of seeing these girls starving themselves all the time. But if you just tell them its harmful they don't listen. So I decided to do something about it. I've set up a blog at http://www.TheHungryI.org documenting a 100 day starvation diet. I'm only eating between 250 and 400 calories per day (but taking supplements and getting regular checkups - I'm not an idiot). On the blog I also slip in info on nutrition and general health stuff. And to be a total hypocrite, I satisfy my lack of oral stimulation by smoking the hookah. A lot. About 6 bowls a day. Luckily another shipment from Hookah John arrived today and although the coals are smaller than expected (not John's fault - I clicked without reading carefully) I'm set for another month or so. Which is good, because I'm only 21 days into the project. Oh boy. But please - if you have a sister, girlfriend, brother, whatever with an unhealthy body image... whether they're anorexic, bulimic, or obese and deny there's a problem, have them swing by my site and read a few of the articles.
6. I've built a contest site for models (males & females alike, photoshoot models, runway models, 'alternative' models, etc.) Initially non-models can sign up as voters to vote for their favorite girls (or guys) in a contest. In a few months we'll be releasing a game where models & moguls (voters) alike can build up a virtual empire of wealth & power by gaining large entourages, earning virtual cash, etc. Right now we've a few test contests in the system. I need people to join, set up model or voter accounts, and enter or vote in contests as well as check out the galleries and/or upload suitable pics. There's an email address to report any bugs spotted, provide feedback about the look of the site, ease of navigation, etc. If you'd like to help, go to beta.modelsandmoguls.net.
7. QUOTE (ilikemyusername @ Jun 10 2008, 06:14 PM) so... i guess the electric coal is kaput? I'm using an electric 'coal' right now. It needs a wind guard (to keep the air around it warm between puffs, so when you pull it doesn't have cold air rush in to cool it) but other than that it's great
8. mmm... Indian food... there are several non-spicy dishes, but of course that's all relative.

10. remember, concept cars are usually over-the-top styling exercises meant to grab attention. If put into production it would be refined considerably. The original Stingray concept car wasn't that great as a road car either:
11. QUOTE (Hobbs @ Feb 16 2009, 02:15 PM) I guess you're right.. I guess I would also change my methods of storage if I was passing down my sacred shisha stash as a family heirloom lol smartass. I've noticed, though, that shisha I store in tupperware or rubbermaid stuff doesn't stay as moist as that in the glass jars.
12. QUOTE (Hobbs @ Feb 16 2009, 01:10 PM) Ziplock twist top containers with the tops that actually twist on like a bottle cap as opposed to snap on are pretty much perfect for 250g portions of tobacco. They're kinda cheap too.. here plastic is permeable - you lose some moisture over time. Glass or pyrex FTW
13. I bought a couple of nakhla flavours in 250g sized jars back in the day - now I just wash them out and refill them with 250g boxed shisha.
14. the sports science college at the local campus did a study that shows most of that buy-by-the-barrel stuff ends up going out through your urine, and that selecting low fat deli meats like homestyle oven roasted turkey breast (not the high sodium blended meats) offered far more bang for your buck.
