Its Too Harsh!

Recommended Posts

Everytime its wayy too harsh. Ive tried all the advice such as: do not pack the shisha, take off less coal (but when i do that I get no smoke). Putting in more shisha etc... I do not understand why I cannot taste the shisha. My hookah is a syrian 3 hose hookah with a clay bowl. I have the water 1 inch past the stem. I feel like i have fallen all of the directions but i just cant quite get there. HELP!

Break your coals into smaller little chunks, and just keep them on the perimeter of the bowl. If you don't get smoke, add another little chunk. If you reach the burning threshold, just take one little chunk off.

What types of coals are you using? Edited by yashman19

If you can post pictures, take one of the loaded bowl, one with the foil/screen, then one f you with the amount of coal you use on the thing...

im using those coals that you light then they start sparkling for a little bit or something. They are pretty big. First I used my screen that the hookah came with, then i tried foil. How much shisha do you put in the bowl? 1 pinch? I think that I have a small bowl.

1 pinch is not enough if you mean with your fingers or with your tongs, and the coals you described are called quick lights, any idea what brand?

I combine it with Glycerin and sprikle it on the bowl instead of putting it in there; gotta make sure gets full. Then create a "ring". Works perfect everytime. Edited by Gaara

it's all about the packing. i'm smoking with a screen right now, and with the bowl that came with the hookah, i've *NEVER* had a decent experience with foil. foil works ok on my MYA bambino, and with my phunnel bowl, but with the shallow bowl that came with, it burns the baccy all the time. i don't know about everyone else, but i keep the tobacco away from the screen. a good bit. i think measured, the amount that goes in the bowl that came with my social smoke oasis is about 2grams weight. very small amount. smokes for about 45 mins to an hour. one quicklight is perfect to get it going, then i usually set a japanese quick light atop that, and put on a windscreen. i usually only make a hole through the tobacco for the center hole of the bowl, the rest is kinda pressed in a bit. try to get it as low as possible, away from the screen. this has worked for me, YMMV.

WOW. 2 grams? 45 mins? If this works, I'm gonna try it... im guessing you make a layer on the bottom of the bowl and ues the screen so it isnt touching the shisha?

too harsh... the holes on your foil, is teh coal covering all teh holes or have you get a few extra holes for airflow?
i find if all teh holes are covered by teh coal .it leads to a very very harsh smoke for me

I think one thing you need to do is load the bowl to the top. Place you foil and make sure that its sealed really well. Make sure you use a pin to pkoe your holes. Also make sure your surface of the foil has enough holes for good air flow. When your done with that. Grab the bowl and blow thru the bottom gently .this helps get air between the shisha. Also do what Yash says about heat manegment. He's got it down.

ok I got a question of my own, whenever I take the foil off my bowl all the tobbacco is stuck to the bottom of the foil so when I lift it up the tobacco comes with it. Is this right? Or does that mean I am burning the tobacco?

popete, i have the same problem also. The coal i use is called golden coal? It came with my hookah so i doubt its good. So some guy said that he does in fact pack his shisha? I was kind of thinking that maybe I should have space between the shisha and the screen instead of having the screen right on top of the shisha. This way it would be really hard to burn the coal no? im using romman mango... is that good shisha? I will take pictures once i set it up again...

Yeah. theres your problem right there... try and pack less tobacco in the bowl.... you really dont want that stuff coming up and touching the foil like that... will burn it.

You can pack shisha a little... you wanna tap it down just enough where it will make an airspace between the top of the tobacco and the foil.
