Tangiers

I noticed that there has been a lot of talk about Tangiers being harsh and hard to manage on here, I just figured I would post my experience since it is the exact opposite. Smoked Tangiers for the first time last night( Guava). I assumed that it would be harsh and hard to manage becuase of everything I had read so I started with one 3 kings broken into quearters with only 3 around the edges pf my Phunnel. Not harsh, smoke was alittle thin but the flavor was amazing, finally got a little tired of the thin smoke so I added the 4th quarter, smoke was stil a little thin, still not harsh. Figured I would continue to add coal until the smoke was thick, added a total of 2 and 1/2 coals and it never got harsh I also could not get the smoke any thicker than medium. Flavor however was very enjoyable buzz was pretty intense, whcih is saying a lot because there was a time less than a year ago when anytime I was outdoors I was ssmoking straight burley. Overall point awesome tobacco, wish I could get the smoke a little thicker.

Since I got my own hookah, I've been smoking tangiers pretty much exclusively because I love the buzz and the flavor.

To get thicker smoke, here's what I do. I use the default bowl from Mya (but I'm ordering a small phunnel as soon as mnhookah has them in stock with the mod) packed like normal. Take a 3K coal, break it in half and light it. Let it sit on the top of the bowl for a few minutes to let the shisha bake. When I start pulling, it's a little thin, but it gets thick and great soon thereafter.

The only tangiers I have a problem with is the Blueberry, but after talking to one of my friends about it, I think it's because I haven't acclimated it enough. Apparently the blueberry is very sensitive to humidity? I don't know, but the Guava is one of my favorites.

Sometimes, thinner smoke is a sign of humidy shock, especially if the hit is not harsh. If the weather got colder/drier recently, that would cause the type of humidity shock that makes the smoke thin, but not harsh.

Its magg , I used to play paintball on a tourney team and originally I played with an automag hence maggmaster. This was a long time ago and I stopped playing except for recreationally. To much time and money.

I have to say.... I may not smoke Tangiers all the time. But the times I have. I have had zero problems getting it to smoke. I use a Smiley set up all glass. There is never a problem. I'm not say my way is the best, Thats not it. I just letting people know That I completly enjoy it and never ever a problem with smoke issues or thin smoke nothing. Maybe it has to do with that we live in a low Humidity area. I'm not sure. But I will say. Eric you RAWK HARD. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. Don't store it in your refrigerators, either...keep it at room temperature. People also have some problems with ice bathes or putting ice in the water (which allows more nicotine to come through.)

Yes, Mr. Moodz...I am looking at Kory's ice torrent hookah! They smoked Tangiers green apple before I got there and it was super harsh because they put ice in the ice bath...I reset the green apple up in a standard hookah and it smoked fine, all other things being equal, difference of about 30 minutes or so, not enough time to acclimate.

Using ice in the ice torrent was a terrible idea for the green apple. The green apple was more like green chili's. But you're right, no ice = a very good smoke for Tangier's shisha. Oh by the way, the root beer smoked pretty well off the first try. It was very cool having you over again Eric! Breakfast at the Waffle House rocked.

you know i've heard so much about tangiers but ive never seen it anywhere around here, none of my local shops carry it, its pretty disapointing, but quick question(in case i find some) do you need the phunnel to smoke it or can you smoke it equally as well with a regular head?

I agree with Mr. Moodz, I get a lot better results when I don't use ice. I have been using my regular (SS) bowl to smoke and I am getting great clouds with great flavor. It is sweetness.
