DizzyGuy
Ok... so the brushs I got with my SS hookah aren't thick enough to deal with my Stargate's stem... so, I went to the wonderful world of wal-mart and bought a shotgun cleaning kit. Now, here's the question... are brass brushes ok to use on a stem or is this just a go find a new alernative thing.
Sonthert
If its a brass core, no. Brass will sratch brass. Steeel is alittle harder...but why do you have a steel core hookah??!? Aluminum will be damaged by brass, so Chinese pipes with aluminum cores should be carefully scrutinized.
DizzyGuy
Well... Damnit. I need to get some brushes that will work :/
Sonthert
Hookah Company might sell them separately.
Skimo
You can make your own out of a steel wool pad lol, not sure if it would work but I was going to try it one day. Online vendors sell hookah cleaning kits though
DizzyGuy
My problem is that I'm wondering if they are big enough... as I stated, I still have the ones that came with my SS Minveva
Lazy Dayz
i got a brush from smoking-hookah.com. that is the best hookah brush i've ever had. its pretty heavy duty, i'd check it out if i were you. it's pretty large and pretty hardy, unlike the cheap brushes you get with your hookah from any other company. Scalliwag
the brushes I use are a hard nylon bristle. those are the safe bet
MN Hookah
I would also go the hard nylon route too..no worries about smoking some metal particles scraped out of the base when you're cleaning it then.
DizzyGuy
Where do you get the hard nylon brushes from?
Scalliwag
Pretty much any dollar store here carries bottle brushes for the vase. Cigar shops carry pipe brushes that will take careof the stem.
DizzyGuy
Hmmm... I've been wanting to go to this good cigar shop anyways to maybe pick up a stick to try it out...
