Just Some Q's Looking For A's

Recommended Posts

Okay so i have had a hookah for about 2 months now. I'm the only one of my friends that own one and so i can't get any advise from them. I would just like to get some opinions and answers.
1) Good brand/flavor shisha. I myself have started to lean towards Havana brand, and 2 apple for flavor. I just want others input.
2)Type of coals like easy light/stove heated. I have been using the easy light golden coals cause there easy to do. I'm cautious about the ones you have to use a stove for. Would that not mess up your stove? Is there an alternative for heating them?
3)Storage. like the only real question i have about that is, is it better to be kept in fridge or just inside. Its already in a air tight container.
3)Good tasty treats to put in the vase for better smoking.
5)Just some reg. tips would be very much appreciated.

Thx for all the input guys.

Aim is xoxide08 if you want to talk hookah with me.. and just help me out over aim.

1. Al Fakher and Tangiers are two excellent brands. Although be careful with the AF Grape and Golden AF Grape. Nakhla deserves an honorable mention.
2. You can use a propane torch to light natural coals, and no, using your stove wont mess anything up.
3. NO FRIDGE! Keep your shisha in an air tight container, away from sunlight, never in the fridge.
4. I rarely put anything other than water in my base, but when I do its almost always alcohol. Wine can taste mighty good if you're smoking a flavor that is similar.
5. Get a small phunnel and a wide gauge hose.

1.) People seem to really like Al Fakher brand shisha. Flavors is usually a preference but AF makes some great flavors so don't be afraid to try something.
2.) In terms of easy lights people seem to like golden coals or 3 kings. As far as lighting natural coals, they've never messed up my stove. If your really worried about it though you can go to walgreens, wal-mart, target, etc and get one of those portable coil burners for 10-15 bucks. They work great and light the coals nice and evenly. I have to say I prefer natural coals over quick lights. If you go with natural, the coconut coals are great. In particular, the Coco Nara brand coals and the cococnut coals from HC are nice.
3.) As long as you have your shisha in an air tight container you should be fine. Their's no need to keep it inside the fridge or anything.
4.) People put all kinds of stuff in the base but a good place to start is putting different kinds of juices in the base if your smoking something fruit flavored. I hear orange juice can be good with some of the citrus flavored tobaccos.
5.) if your happy with the smoke and flavor you get then I can't really say too much. One thing you might wanna try is getting a phunnel bowl. I just ordered one myself but a lot of people on this forum seem to really like them and apparently it really increases the amount of time the smoke has flavor.

Hope I helped.

Thanks I feel better now. empathy3.gif

But do check out the wiki. I've put some serious time into research and then creating the pages. Then once you figure out what your doing go back and add to it. Right now I've added most of the info on it, and I know I dont know everything, so if other members could go in and add info. After all its a Wiki not a Willki wink.gif

My Answers
1) I'd say start out with the Al Fakher or the Al Waha then work your way up. That way you can learn heat management and all that fun stuff.
2) For quick lights I recomend golden. But I have fallen in love with the coconaras (natural)
3) If they dont come in a tub then in a little glad container
3) I haven't really tried any. http://hookahforum.com/wiki/index.php/Flavor_Enhancements
4) yes always.
5) If you keep sucking crap out of your hose, hold the hose itself, near the end by the handle and whack it on the ground a few times then blow through it.

1) Al Fakher is a soild line, as are Layalina and Nakhla. I'd give those a try..
2) Natural coals wont mess up your stove at all, but like other said you can buy a portable stove top or use a propane torch
3) I keep my shisha in gladware tubs if they don't come with a tub of their own. DONT put the shisha in the fridge.
3) (you had two 3s tongue.gif ) I like to add Kool-Aid packets to the base.. no sugar though. You can make some nice mixes with that.
5) Use foil over a screen, clean your hookah after every or every other use. Invest in a nice washable hose.
Stay away from here, you'll end up buying many many many more hookahs and more shisha than you'll ever know what to do with.... I kid... but its kinda serious tongue.gif

You know it's kind of true. People would have been perfectly happy with their one hookah but coming on to this forum you here about all the other hookahs out there and you see pics of beautiful KMs and soon enough, your buying one of your own.

...You know, not that its ever happened to me or anything.

1. tangiers, Al Fakher, fumari.
2. coconut coals/ japanese silver coals.
3. KEEP out of fridge
4. you can put anything in your base you want just undestand that anything you put into it you have to eventually clean. tea/flat soda can complement alot of flavors.
5. use the search bar in the forum to find a gagglebust of info on all the above.

1) A great brand of shisha is Al Fakher (AF) and if you want something cheaper go for Nakhla but keep in mind that Nakhla is un washed tobbacco so it gives a much stronger buzz (if you get any from AF). Good flavors for AF are grape even if it smells like ass, watermelon, and peach. For Nakhla the only one I have tried is Double Apple which is really strong and along with it being Nakhla it gives a powerful buzz.
2) THe only way the coals will mess up your stove is making them dirty as far as I know. As for alternative methods to head it I use a portable propane stove mostly because I smoke outside. Some really good coals are Coco Naras though they take a while to light, if you want a shorter lighting time go for Japanese coals, look under the review section for good Japanese coals as I am not familiar with them.
3) It is best to keep the tobbacco out of the fridge, just keep it in a dark place at room temp.
4) As far as good tasty treats I have not tried that but people say putting grape juice with Grape tobbacco is good etc. just something that compliments the tobbacco.
5) Look at the sticky notes on top of the forum for good tips especially heat management and if you dont find good enough information just search "Heat Management" in the search bar.

Welcome to the forum and hopefully you will be a pro in no time.
