Gettin Flavor Back Into Shisha?

Ok, so I have some tonic orange cream delight. i got it back in late december. The first time I smoked it it was amazing. Became my favorite almost immediatly. But then I let it sit for a couple weeks because I didnt hae anyone to smoke with. I kept it double bagged in zip locks. Then when I smoked it again it tasted very very plasticy. So I let it sit for a while more this time in an air tight glass jar. I brought it back out about 3 weeks ago. I made sure to stir it up real nice and it hasnt really dried out much if any. I smoked it and it tasted much better than the last time but still not what i remember the first time being. No plastic taste, just not a strong taste. Does anyone have any clues as to why I might not be gettin the same flavor and any way I can get it back? My set up was identical minus the bowl where i switched from a standard egyptian to a superchief.

superchief? im not hip to it. however, what i am hip to is physics, however im not in a deep thinking state of mind , my face is still pretty numb...ziplocks are not air tighht and they're certainly not light tight. they breathe, not much but if you can smell the shisha through whatever you store it in then the container is not doing its job. i use the home made jelly jars with the 2 piece lids "ball" 1 part goes over the opening and the other screws on making an airtight seal, then i store all of my shisha in a closet so the light doesnt break down the flavor. it lasts indefinitley. try that for the next batch, as for this one... im sure someone will be able to help you out

Well I had it double bagged then inside the tin so there was no light.

hmmm... wellsir, the only thing i can think of is the evil shisha gnomes. sometimes they just move in and ruin it all.

It's possible that the humidity changed and it needs to sort of acclimate.

Since it's almost summer, it might take less coals to get it going.


Also, this doesn't work for all shisha, but I've revived Nakhla Chocomint from lack of flavor and dryness by leaving it in the freezer and then letting it thaw out. Maybe try a bowl's worth to start, so you don't sacrifice it all.

a mason or "ball" two part lid and jar has to be pressure sealed inorder to make it 100% air tight, but even without being sealed properly it is a better choice than ziplocks, hands down.

Give the freezer trick a shot.

For preservation, definitely not. But I've restored flavor by giving shisha the cold treatment and letting it thaw out. If it tastes bland, there's not really much to lose.
