  1. Please beat me up mercilessly if this has been brought up before. I am helping a friend who has a great Indian restaurant to do a hookah service. I asked for and got the go ahead that we will differentiate ourselves from the other guys in Prague by offering the exceptional hookah experience using the finest water pipes and the best tobacco, with natural coals. On top of this, we will have two hose waterpipes, possibly also coolgel (is it any good?), whatever works best. Best tobacco too, Al-Fakher or better if I can get it. Not much money in this but having been on both sides of the coin, if you do what you love and are with the people you love, for me I can live in a tiny apartment if my work makes others happy. The rest is BS, my personal experience. Thanks in advance for advice on this-practical considerations is that I am based in the Czech Republic in the EU and shipping/taxes need to be factored in. Maybe my boss will send me to Istanbul or Aleppo for materials
  2. QUOTE (Erica @ Nov 5 2008, 08:44 PM) I dont smoke anymore! hahaha sad huh? I have gone out to hookah bars and smoked a few times.. but its never as good as home! And I wont have my son around smoke at all... so yes! I dont get to smoke! Oh Jeez Erica I figured you were the major wisdom source here since you are both the mama And a big fan of Hookah. *sigh* well at least we have cute and healthy kids. I agree on the hookah bars, no one makes it as good as we do at home...
  3. Well lol long time since my last post, but THANKS EVERYONE for your comments, and well taken!!! Just an FYI...my wife who is a great great mom...and who is fanatic about no smoking hookahs in the house with the now 10 month old baby (he is so cute... go to youtube and look for 'matt the plumber', really it's worth it even if you don't like babies that much), still is cool away from home. We were in Istanbul for a few days, and the two days we got babysitting we went to a hookah bar where she-who rarely smokes with me at home-smoked some nice mint. We got babysitting the other day and went to a nice Prague cajovna (tea room) and both of us shared a nice pipe. I do bring my own when we go out, and I offered our waiter some of our Starbuzz mint and he commented happy later 'very nice' If anyone likes Al Fakhir and is ever in Dubai, WAIT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT TO BUY... Al Fakhir was 16 AED which is about 5 bucks for 250 grams of Al Fakhir mint in the big duty free area, it's in the middle and nice hookahs complete were like 30 bucks!
  4. I say Syrian because my Ji'dah (grandad) was from Syria and I'm prejudiced
  5. Welcome home! Let's see...two new babies...one from Erica, one from me.... I got a Leila, which is a nice little ultraportable but very small bowl and you have to be careful about heat management but very safe around babies, if you or they tip it over no worries
  6. Hi - Just got my Leila and was wonderin' if'in anyone made any adaptor for a normal hose to use with their Leila? I like to wash my hoses out and don't like the idea of being stuck with the cheap hose they give you. If you've managed to mod yours to make it fit any other hose on de market, Do tell! Thanks!!
  7. Oh for pete's sakes guys how about getting both of them! I have a hobo and like it alot. Agree that the hose sucks but I use my Mya Cloissoine and no problems it works fine. We have a new baby at home and soon he will be crawling. I think the Leila is the safest bet for safety when you need it in a car or anywhere that a falling coal can do some damage. But has anyone tried them side by side to see how they smoke? That would be a good question to ask.
  8. QUOTE (nat3r @ May 13 2008, 01:19 PM) cant say much about the layla i did purchase a hobo hookah though, and so far its been treating me extremely well, flavorfull, pretty regular smoke density (i dont normally cool my water so it prob. could be more dense) the only problem with it is that the hose that comes with it is AWFUL, i mean, terrible, i was drawing at one point and i felt stuff come into my mouth, it was like wood or something, reaall bad,so i tried to unscrew the top off to clean it, it turns out its hotglued, so make sure you have your own screw on hose, other than that its an awesome hookah and i will recommend it to anybody, as long as they have something like a MYA Cloissonne at home Agree! I use my Mya Cloissone with it and it's a great matchup.
  9. QUOTE (johnb73 @ Jun 5 2008, 06:32 AM) I am an audio engineer and a lighting technician, this fall (although it is not fully official) i will be going on a HUGE national(possibly world, if it comes to that) Tour with a BIG act. im not really aloud to discuss details yet but anyways... I probably wont be able to bring my 3.5 foot hookah on a tour bus with me. it probably wouldn't be a good idea anyways. and i would like some cheap suggestions. So far i am looking at the MYA QT and thats pretty much it... any more suggestions? I have the Hobo Hookah and the Mya QT and would sell the Mya in a hot second if i were back in the states. I used it twice and it now sits in my closet. If I were you now I would get the Leila as it seems to be 100 percent self contained. I like my Hobo alot but the Leila wasn't around when I got the Hobo. Anyone do a direct comparison for how they smoke?
  10. QUOTE (Scoop @ Apr 22 2008, 07:48 PM) in beverly hills, you cant smoke in the car with a minor in it starting june or july. Yes! That I agree with 100 percent-time and a place for smoking and with little ones trapped in a car it should be banned. I remember my uncle driving in the winter in a car with closed windows and us kids in the back fairly gagging and nauseous with no escape possible. Smoking a hookah in a car by oneself...well why not.
  11. QUOTE (Toxik916 @ Apr 21 2008, 05:45 PM) I really regret buying my mini mya now, I've only been smoking for 5 months and it looks like I might be buying my third pipe soon lol. Now should I get a nice KM or this thing so I can smoke in the car. Oh god I got one of the mini myas or QT and it just sits in my closet. Too many people raved about it and I thought it would be great, it's simply average.
  12. I've got the Hobo Hookah and use it about as much as my very beloved Mya 160 buck I forget the name of it blue cloissonne dude. Much as I like the Hobo Hookah, it's not as self contained as the Leila is, let's face it. I don't know how you'd safely drive with the hobo (any good ideas?). The Leila is very nicely and well designed self contained. But come on now 100 bucks? I think it would be a fair price at about 60 or so, look at the materials. If it weren't for the hole you have to drill in the side, ... hmmm... anyone got the tools for a DIY? Can't be THAT difficult, can it? Being in Europe, the shipping costs would put this over the top of my budget. Anyone see anything exactly like this but local (Europe) and/or less expensive? On the other hand, I trust Chris from hookah-shisha.com implicitly he has always done right by me at least.
  13. QUOTE (Toxik916 @ May 30 2008, 12:14 AM) http://medusedesign.com/ really expensive pipes Holy cow these are awesome! And from the Czech Republic where I live (yay!). But I haven't seen any prices on their website-would love to have one of these around these are real works of art. Of course with a 4 month old baby about to crawl soon that might put a damper on having it in the house-I am worried even now on how to tie down all my electronics and hookah stuff once he starts to explore. My friend's baby does fun things like putting the remote control in the garbage all the time...
  14. I must have ordered something from J & R hookah at some point, or, somehow, they got my email address. At any rate, I received a spam email from them announcing a huge memorial day sale. What they did was to put everyone's email address on the same line, which means opening one up for a huge amount of spam and basically anouncing one's private and personal email address to total strangers who now can do anything they like with it. The sending address was JZaid84@aol.com. Just an FYI. I will not personally deal with any business that misuses one's personal information like this.
