I've been using one coal in one piece off to the side, so I'll experiment with breaking it up as well as multiple coals. The coal has been glowing red all over, I saw that question asked, and we've been moving it around the outside.
I have only smoked once. but you say you smoke outside? Perhaps using a wind cover could help your heat managing. Also, I heard a lot of good things from the Gelato Econo Mya Hookah. It is supposed to be a keeper, and a good starter hookah. Also, it comes with pretty much everything you would need as a starter set, and two flavors of Romman (50g each) that you can choose from a small variety. I have never smoked Romman, but perhaps someone else from the forum can give feedback about it?
Whoops! XD I am an idiot!! lol I thought you said you smoked it outside, not you were moving the coal around the outside XD facepalm! You can disregard the wind cover part of what I said. -

Its used in there as a preservative and it keeps it all juicy, which aids in creating the clouds you get from smoking. As far as I know, there hasn't been a real study saying if its harmful or not.
Ah, I see... Well the same can be said about the amounts of tar in hookah smoke... I don't think cigarettes are relevant when it comes to smoking hookah, but I have read both extremes: 1. that hookah smoke contains up to about 36 times the tar as in a cigarette; and 2. that hookah smoke does NOT contain any tar, due to the water filtering it out. Here is the exact quote "Tar includes all of the mutagenic and carcinogenic agents in tobacco smoke. For Example Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) which in cigarettes is made through the process of epoxidation and which causes the reaction in tobacco that aids the creation of the tar and the carrying of nicotine, does not occur in hookah or shisha pipes as the process is prevented in water due to saturation of the hydrocarbons in their gaseous state." <http://www.rdoc.org.uk/smoking_hookah_risks.html> What are your opinions?
hookah doesnt contain tar only because you arent physically burning the tobacco. Tar is produced at a temperature at or above 800F. Yes the water will filter out some tar if you get your tobacco hot enough but not all of it. Chances are if I fill my lungs with tar I'll die a happy man =P
Lol, well I thoroughly enjoy your optimism I think I'm going to experiment for a while and see how my body reacts to the stuff Now I just need the oportunity to smoke
haha thx...I also look at it from the veiwpoint that most shit today is bad for you and causes cancer, so if it not hookah then I guess it will be from artificial sweetener....life is too short to give up the things you enjoy
Very true my friend -

Nicotine itself is addictive. Some people get addicted, some don't. Some people's lives get affected, some don't. It really depends. There's not enough studies to definitively say how harmful it is nor it's affect on people's lives. Either way, if you're thinking smoking hookah is somehow "not bad"...you're wrong. It's bad...you'll have to accept the fact that there may be a chance you'll grow 3 more testicles (for men) or 9 more breasts (for women) if you smoke enough hookah. if you can live with any dire consequences, then take up the hobby...if you're not willing to take a chance, i'd suggest looking for other avenues of enjoyment.
HAA! XD Thats hillarious I know it has its dangers, and that smoking is in no way safe.. I guess I am just wanting feedback and maybe some idea of what can happen if I actually start smoking hookah.
you'll probably start spending your entire paychecks on new tobaccos to try, better hookah accessories and constantly peruse HF to find out how to get better sessions... all in all...nothing but good things await!!
+1 I love the chase of the "perfect session". Once you take up hookah and realise it isn't that easy, you learn what can be tweaked and how you can improve the smoke, and from then on out you're hooked at trying to making it the best. I love hookah and have no regrets taking it up as a hobby, I don't see myself quitting anytime soon. Only getting more hookahs!
Wow, that sounds like a load of fun I'm going to try experimenting a little more with hookah for a while before deciding whether or not to buy my own hookah kit Although, I am pretty sure I will end up buying a kit Thanks all for the help and support! -

I am new to hookah. Like, so new that I literally have only smoked once. I really enjoyed it though, and I would like to know everyone's opinion on how hookahs affect people individually. Any of your own personal experiences would help greatly. I want to know what benefits there may be and what problems may come along with smoking the hookah occasionally. How addictive is the nicotine in shisha to you guys. Is there a possibility of becoming easily dependent on shisha tobacco? Additionally, I have questions/concerns about the general health risks of smoking the hookah. What are the risks of smoking the tobacco shisha? Has it had any significant effects on anyone's lifestyles negatively? I am aware that there is herbal shisha, but I don't know much else about it, other than it has no tobacco. But is it any better to smoke that than to smoke regular shisha with tobacco. I am just doing simple and basic research before deciding on whether or not I should and/or could make hookah smoking a simple, fun, and relaxing hobby for my life that will not necessarily HAVE to be something I do for all of my life. (I don't want to become addicted to the nicotine.)

Hey, my [real] name is Raphael, I am brand-spankin' new to hookah altogether. I have tried it ONCE and would like to try again, and learn more about it. I guess I'm posting this to introduce myself, and because the website requires me to but I do think its a good way to filter out lame spam bots.
