QUOTE (Sonthert @ Oct 31 2009, 06:55 PM) Your math and assumptions are faulty. However, its an interesting thought experiment. First off, I was under the impression that the average lung capacity for the average human lung capacity is 5L, and if the average lung full is .21 ft3, you couldn't get 1 ft3 from one hit. That would be five hits. Thats assuming that 100% of your lungs are full. I would guess its 10-20%, personally. Your math is faulty when you guess that there are 4 hits/minute and the average bowl lasts one hour. There are only 60 minutes in an hour, not 100. Unless you're using that old-fashioned metric time. Therefore, there would be 240 hits/bowl. If, then we take a 20% lung load of 5L lungs (mine are 7.5L and are the largest several doctors have ever seen outside of deep sea divers), that would be .035 ft3/hit. Even if lungs are 6L on average, thats still ~18% capacity...thats still a good guess. Times 240 hits/bowl (assuming constant smoke generation). Thats 8.4 ft3 /bowl. or .31 yd3/bowl. Why you would convert to yd3 to convert to cm3, I don't know. There are 61.02 in3/L (a 302 in3 car engine is 5L). Therefore, .061 in3/ml= .061 in3/cm3. 8.4 ft3/bowl translates to 14515 in3/bowl, dividing by 61.02 in3/L (=61.02 in3/dm3) =237.9 dm3= [dividing by 10000^3....10000 dm in 1Km] 2.38 x10^-10 Km3. [There are 1x10-15 Km3/cm3. From your math 1.13x10-8 Km3/bowl...you forgot some conversions somewhere...there are 100000^3 cm3/Km3 you only divided by 100000 once, not thrice]. because 11,315,000 cm3 divided by 100000 is "113 Km". You need to divide by 1,000,000,000,000,000. Thats 1.13x10^-8 Km3, you would have to assume a cross-sectional area of the smoke ring of 1x10^-10 Km2...or 1 cm2...either 1 cm x 1cm square or the linearly larger circular cross-sectional area. Going back to my math, if we assume the smoke ring has a very tiny 1 cm2 cross-sectional area, like you assumed, I would estimate a smoke ring of a length of 2.38 Km. The circumference...of the Earth is, equatorially (As opposed to meridianially) is 40,000 Km (actually, they're both about 40,000 Km). 868.7 Km for one years smoking (2.38 Km x 365 days.year)...it would take you approximately 46 Years to encircle the Earth once. Obviously, we haven't taken into account error propagation or significant figures. I used my cell phone for a lot of the math, which actually sucks. . Fun project! Now calculate how many years it would take to encircle the Sun or Jupiter, neglecting magnetic or particle disruption. That should be shocking! Thanks Eric....party pooper.

QUOTE (dizzbizz @ Oct 27 2009, 07:36 PM) I've seen this but they use a tea light instead of foil. Theres a post floating around here with it somewhere lol, dreamer is the one that posted that also. Haven't tried this but it looks interesting. I'll give it a go. I tried the tea holder way. It works well if you only want to use 1 coal and want a session of about 30mins. I wonder how this will go.

QUOTE (NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD @ Oct 15 2009, 09:02 PM) QUOTE (sleeperhit @ Oct 15 2009, 11:59 PM) I think this entire thread should be removed. It's making HF look very biased. Remember that people come here for open opinions. and hopefully they saw neal is not a guy to do business with I agree. A discussion about this in a method where we all follow 'Rule 1' would be civilized AND help other members and guests in staying away from bad vender's. Also remember that we are currently advertising for Neal by linking to that website. Isn't that against a rule? If you want to complain about the website who's link will not be mentioned, then do so...but not like this. It's childish man. I risk taking a vacation by saying this....but.... Mush....lead by example. I think taking the rest of the day off on 'vacation' sounds like the right action for not only making this thread, but allowing it to continue for this long. Hopefully the place doesn't burn down while you take a breather. -

QUOTE (Toxik916 @ Oct 6 2009, 08:15 PM) Just ordered my costume. Lets just say people will be shocked. QUOTE (Stuie @ Oct 13 2009, 01:46 PM) Found a great costume for my little girl. I LOL at both of these. Good ones. I plan on wearing either a Batman, Spiderman or Superman costume that is way to small for me. Then not shave for that extra scraggly look and make sure I rub the costume on some type of rough surface for that aged look. I'll be a retired yet unable to let go superhero.

QUOTE (MechAnt @ Oct 15 2009, 06:26 PM) People, people. Lets try to keep this somewhat civilized, I know John would want that at the very least. Calling neil names, however true, is juvenile and waaaaaaaaaay below what we at HF are as people. Let's just let it go, eye for an eye makes the world blind. As much as I want to defend John with every fiber in my body, it's better to just let is go, he's not even worth our time and energy. John, stay strong brothuh, we are always here for you, just laugh this silly incident off THIS^ Mush....i love you man but this has gone kinda far. It strayed way off coarse and became something that is making HF look pretty bad. We're better then this guys'n gals... John does good business. Neil doesn't. Let it be. This is how it works; You buy from a place. They make a mistake. You find out they have a history of this. You don't buy from them again. Maybe post it up on a forum. End of story. John will keep my business and i'll send people his way as often as I can. Revenge and other actions out of spite is a little much. -
I voted for you. It was difficult...but in the end you won my vote. Yours - VID 29 Ended up voting for you because of two positive reasons; 1- You had the best arrangement of tricks out of everybody when it came to quantity and quality. 2- You didn't repeat any of them like most did. You almost lost my vote because of 2 negative reasons; 1- Your music choice was not my style and I wanted to close the page because of this. 2- The beginning of your vid started decent with the locations until the garage....then I was bored of the poses and crappy cars... Hope you take a lead soon though. other notable vids VID 30 This is one GREAT DiY video! These guys deserve one hell of a pat on the back. It just isn't meant for this kinda contest. Otherwise it would have had my vote! VID 33 He had some decent tricks. Bad music but worth a view. VID 8 Yeah....it's rigged. Not a 2k votes quality vid but still decent. Good tricks, neat Halloween mod. Worth a view. VID 34 Good arrangement for a hookah trick vid. Liked the way they were both doing different tricks and then swapping. Just didn't like the speed up and how short it was. Otherwise worth a view. VID 19 - MUST SEE! One trick...but it was fucking awesome!!! I've never seen anybody play with a smoke ball for that long and without problems at all. A must see. If he threw a smoke ring and train in he would have had my vote easily!

I'm Not Sure What's Wrong With Some Of You.

If it was in 'Serious Discussion' then even if you don't think he's serious, you should still treat it as though it is. I just posted something about me being homeless for 7 months. I was serious. Yes this is the internet. Who would have thought it could happen!!! -
Feeding The People On The Streets....
sleeperhit replied to Tyler's topic in Serious Discussion Forum
And before anybody says something about me now knowing what it's like. I was homeless and without work at the time for 7 months. It may not seem like a long time but waking up in a cheap tent at a different location every other week working however you can for 7 months is rough indeed. I never asked for free money and only had to resort to a sign when I couldn't find any work by going door to door for a week. "Starving 3 days now. Weak but willing to work for food." Somebody was nice enough to offer a yard job. I took it. He didn't believe i was homeless or hungry until I did the job. Then asked if I wanted food or money. I said food and he fed me well. Then gave me a ride to my tent. So a tip. If a guy has a sign that says he'll work for food and you've seen him there a few days. He's fishing for free money. Not work. You get work fast going door-to-door or labor centers. Yes, they have them. Shelters also offer work, food and bed until you can get back on your feet. I know from first hand experience. I was that guy on the side of the road with the dirty cloths. I've been screamed at, hit with drinks/food and harassed for being homeless. So I know it's hard. But I also know about the guys that don't need to be there but choose to. I have no problem asking them straight up, why they're doing it and what their methods are. I then give tips If I think they actually need help. I ended up getting out of my situation by giving false information for an hourly job about my address. Adding a shelter as an address doesn't get you much work but the second you put an actual home address things looked up. Oh! and the 7 months was all on the street. Not shelter. That came on the 7th and lasted for 2 months before I saved enough to rent a room. I make good money now, have a great job and have experiences that taught me great lessons that I'll remember the rest of my life. -
Feeding The People On The Streets....
sleeperhit replied to Tyler's topic in Serious Discussion Forum
I live in Sacramento CA. Many homeless people and many bums. The reason I separate the two is because bums have become somewhat of a plague here. If somebody is homeless, without work and asking for food, money or any kind of help. I will not give them anything without receiving something in return. Clean my windshield, sing me a song, do something to earn the money you are asking me to give you. Because I had to earn it by doing something myself. Unless they are in desperate need then I usually comment on their laziness if they refuse to do anything for money and expect it to be free. However, like I said...Unless they are in desperate need. The other day I was on my way to a job and was passing through one of the towns local McDonald's. I ordered my food and noticed that at the end, where there is a STOP sign on the end of the drive there was a young girl asking for food. Right next to her were a few tables to eat. Somebody sat right next to her out of all the empty tables and began to pull their food out. I stopped my car, got out and walked right up to the girl, gave her one of my burgers and took the guys soda and fries. Gave them to her and gave the guy some shit about being an ass. After his 911 threat he left and I had to move my car because ppl were honking. She deserved some help. I offered to take her to a local shelter (which she didn't even know existed) but she didn't want the ride. I ended up sitting with her for a while talking about her situation. I looked up the address for the shelter because she said she would find her own way there and thanked me. Some people do need a hand. It's up to each individual to decide who and with what. Now back to Bums. I have NO respect for people who expect to live for free in this country. I pay my tax. I expect everybody else should do the same where it is legally required. If you supply a service on the street that earns you a 'tip'. Then that is considered tax free just as long as it isn't larger then $5,000. Asking for free money..."Spare some change.", "Can you help me out with any money." Is actually illegal in most states. Thats why you see signs that tell you their situation (which is usually a lie). Because it is illegal to walk public areas and ask for specific numbers in 'tips'. It usually nets in high amounts of money. (Begging bums) This angers me to the highest degree! Just an FYI. Like what Eric was saying in his earlier post. Some bums make lots more then you and I. In Sacramento I was speaking with a few guys downtown about their situation and they may look homeless but they very much choose to live in a tent and enjoy it. They make more money asking for hand me outs in high traffic areas then they ever had working higher end jobs. The guy I spoke to was earning 500+ on weekends and 200-300 on weekdays. Starting at 11am until 6pm as if it were a job. They have bank accounts or ways of keeping their earnings. 'Easy money on tax free hand outs because people are suckers.' One of the guys words exactly. (i ended that conversation on a surprise act to him that I will not explain on this forum) Anybody who thinks that doing this for that many hours IS work needs to rethink those words. There are bums. People that do it for money because they're pretty much garbage human beings. and Homeless or Needy. People that, well....are homeless and in need. It's because of this that I will refuse to give free money unless I see absolutely fit. -
Whats Strong? Nakhla Or Tangiers Og?
sleeperhit replied to Brandon`'s topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
Well, to answer your question, Tangiers F-Line for sure. Yes Eric stopped making it. Yes you can still buy it. Yes it will knock you on your ass. I'd say try OG more often before you jump to F-Line. Read my review on it on the Tangiers Reviews. F-Line was too much for me. Still have 2x 250g flavors sitting in my cabs in the kitchen. I pull it out every now and then with friends. They love the Orange Soda but can never finish a bowl because it's so strong. -
