Exotica Easy-Lite Japanese Coals

Recommended Posts

Exotica Easy Lite Japs

Look: Individually cut pieces make it easy to handle but rather difficult to close the box. Thicker than normal Japs. Silver paint is covering them so definitely scrape that off.

Ease of lighting: Actually very easy. About the same time as the Easy Lite chinese made japs. Most definitely faster that regular Exoticas and Cocos. Noticably longer time to light than Golden Japs.

Smell: Slight smell that is similar to the regular exoticas or Cocos but not a problem like before.

Setup: MZ Horas B, cold tap water, Razan hose, foil, and SS Hemi bowl.

Taste: Absolutely none! It was a joy to smoke with these.

Heat: Not the greatest amount of heat, less than Golden Japs but still a good amount of consistent heat.

Longevity: Four of us smoked 4 coals for over an hour.

Ash: Solid ash and surprisingly little. I expected more ash because of its Exotica name.

Overall: 9/10. I reserve the 10 for Golden Canary Japs which are still, in my opinion, the best coals on the market. Slightly pricey but I'd gladly spend the money for something that compares in quality to the Golden Japs. I highly recommend them.
