zeppyrkr Posted December 20, 2007 Share Posted December 20, 2007 Well ive always had a traditional egyption hookah and ive thought myself how to smoke that to perfection, got my new little 15" modern hookah, Solar from TheHookah.com, looks cool, but having some trouble with it, its got a pretty deep bowl and i packed it how i usually do, to the brim but low enough that it doesnt touch the foil, burned the hell out of 2 bowls now? so this 3rd time its about half packed and using double foil, so far so good but thats how it was the first two times? also it seems the bowl gets alot hotter then my other bowls? zeppyrkr Posted December 20, 2007 Author Share Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) yep again after what 25min its harsh as hell, sick!! another perfectly good bowl of passion fruit to the garbage, yeah, i should prolly go get my other bowl. i hope thats the problem, this is pissing me off.well after 3 bad bowls im done smoking, ugh, i hope it was the bowl, is there any other factors that cause the shisha to burn? i was using 1 ql, they seemed pretty shitting came with the hookah, ill have to try with my old bowl and some 3 kings. zeppyrkr Posted December 21, 2007 Author Share Posted December 21, 2007 Tried with old bowl plus 3K? still nothing, actually this was the worse one, lasted like 10min? what the heck, for some reason its getting to hot? should i try like triple or four foil layers? this is annoying, could it just be a crappy hookah, cause i thought my last one was crappy, got it off ebay, but it smokes way better then this thing! someone please help. The burning of the shisha has nothing to do with the hookah, it has to do with your Heat Management skills and sometimes the hole placement and bowl type. The only thing affected by the hookah is the draw. You should only need 1 layer of foil. Maybe poke less holes? Place your coals on the outer edges of the bowl and as your session rolls along move the coal around the bowl in a kind of spiral formation until you get to the center. Once you get good at that, you can add another half or full coal. You may be leaving the coal on the same spot for too long ans just gettting a harsh taste. What tobacco are you smoking? Ive tried Hookah-Hookah Passion Fruit and Nakhla Strawberry? And usually with my last hookah i would used 2 coals, 1 for 35min or so then a second one to finish it off, i have yet to be able to use another coal on this thing, the shishas black in 10min? Nakhla is pretty tricky to smoke properly, it takes practice; and HH isn't that gooey, it's not bad, but a little dry and is cut like pipe tobacco, in little shreds, so it burns much faster based on those 2 factors. The smoke from HH isn't as thick as AF or SB or Tangiers, it's more whispy than thick i would say. Nakhla has an off colored smoke, but is thick nonetheless. Delicious. Try Layalina. You'll probably be happier. But wiht the Drier shisha, break the coals in half so the Heat is not concentrated on one area so much. Gingerbread kind of. HookahHookah Irish Cream is great as well (i would reccomend it over Starbuzz actually)Starbuzz Pumpkin Pie is great. Tangiers Horchata is Fantastic. Setting up its somewhat hard work and im lazy, lol. but when people say they smoke for like 1 3/4 hour, do they like hit it every couple minutes, cause when i smoke either me or someone is constantly hitting it, ive never had a session much longer then an hour? I got a Crappy batch of SB irish cream, and it's just not very good. I have to mix it with AW Vanilla, which by the way is an AMAZING mixer with AF Cinnamon. But maybe you'll get a good Batch. And if you have a Phunnel with HH tobacco, it's pretty dang good. Well, select flavors that is. Ohh, HookahFreak Blueberry Pancakes! Theres a pic of it in the Trade thread. i would get a Glass Mod from MNhookahs.com. It goes in the Middle of the phunnel when you are smoking Non-Tangiers tobacco, i like it alot. I had a nasty thing of Mint Soex (ewwww) laying around and gave it a shot, lasted about an hour? what the heck, why can't i get the others going, im doing the exact same thing!?! maybe i need to be rethought how to do this.
