  1. QUOTE (Brandon` @ Oct 25 2009, 02:08 AM) Seems like your packing it to low. Back it a lil above the rim not to much, try 4 half coals, 2 coals just cut them in half and spread them around the bowl. If that doesn't work and its still harsh maybe ur water level is to high? Or try packing it like a normal bowl high enough. Ur grommet shouldnt effect anything. I think you are right on. I checked the bowl after my last post and noticed that the tobacco had filled in the center hole and decided that it maybe needed to be packed tighter. Adding some more made a big difference. It was less harsh and thicker, but still not thick at all. I think you could be onto something with the water level. I'll have to try it out with a lower water level and spreading out the coals.
  2. I'm trying to smoke the tangiers right now. I did what you guys said, putting a hole in the middle using my thumb. I poked holes with a toothpick the whole way to the bottom of the bowl. I tried using 1 Golden quick light coal broken into 4 pieces and spread out. It seems that using all 4 pieces is too harsh, but the smoke is also thin. Using 3 wasn't so harsh, but the smoke was really thin. I noticed that somehow the grommet for my base got a little warped and has a small leak. Could that have something to do with it? Anyone have any thoughts?
  3. I just bought some Tangiers f-line apple (caffeinated shisha). I tried packing it in a normal bowl, and the smoke was thin and harsh. I found a lot of posts about how to pack a phunnel bowl with tangiers, but I couldn't find anything about packing a regular bowl. For one thing, I don't think I packed it full enough, but is there anything that should be done differently when using a regular bowl instead of a phunnel bowl? I've also never smoked Tangiers before. Does anyone know if packing the F-line shisha is the same as packing their other types of shisha?
  4. So me and my friend are planning on opening a hookah lounge in Pennsylvania in the near future. For the most part things seem to be falling into place. Our biggest problem is finding information on what licenses/permits are needed in PA to operate a hookah lounge. We do not plan on serving alcohol, so that whole hassle is being avoided. I was also wondering if anyone has suggestions on good suppliers for shisha, coals, hookahs, etc. Most of the suppliers I found online seem to target individuals buying small quantities rather than business owners. I appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks.
  5. QUOTE (cotsi95 @ Aug 18 2008, 12:01 PM) Beer Pong Hookah Table? omg... I think you have found the definition of glory! and then incorporate it into the game and make it so you have to smoke some hookah and then finish your drink before you breathe out... people would be really messed up, but I say its a good idea haha only problem is I foresee pp balls hitting the coals and melting, that and hookahs are never a good thing around drunk people. Something or someone is always gonna get burnt...
  6. QUOTE (agentscot @ Sep 18 2008, 12:22 AM) http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=prod...526-68081-82724 Well I don't think I've seen anyone give such blatant, no description needed answers, but thanks... I may just have to buy one of those...
  7. QUOTE (agentscot @ Sep 17 2008, 12:31 PM) beer bottle maybe? Maybe, or if I'm going the glass bottle route anyway, I actually I have a jones soda bottle sitting right here that might work well... but I'm not really sure how to go about drilling a hole in a glass bottle. I'm not sure I even have anything to do that... Anyone know anything about doing that? And just because I've always thought this would be a great idea... has anyone ever put jones soda in their hookah base? It sounds glorious to me...
  8. QUOTE (skimo281 @ Sep 7 2008, 10:37 PM) I actually like that one with the coconut as a bowl. What all is it made from? The actual functioning hookah part is just a coconut, bamboo for the stem, a pop bottle and some tubing. Then the rest is just some random junk from walmart to make it look good... The pop bottle thing doesn't work too good though... It smoked great the first time, but now its kind of dented and doesn't like to cooperate... anyone know of something about that size that would better for permanent use?
  9. QUOTE (darkone253 @ Sep 2 2008, 02:29 PM) Just like what was said, save up some money adn buy a real hookah. It'll smoke better, be easier to clean and take care of, and look infinitely better. The price is worth it, trust me. Somewhat true, but I spent a little bit of money on this and created the glorious Bambookah. I think it looks good anyway. Plus it smokes really well. There's actually just a 20oz pop bottle in the middle of that thing, which would work well but it got bent and now it leaks around the hose. So it might need something a lil better than a soda bottle... [attachment=2095:Bambookah.jpg] But I guess my point here is that you CAN build a good working hookah, but it'll probably cost more than hippomania spent using just random stuff he found in the trash.
  10. So are you saying this was probably a bad idea? I mean granted it was since we tried putting orange soda in it, but I've smoked it a buncha times with water and it worked fine. I don't remember why all that duct tape and foil was on there, but usually it just had an orange soda can wrapped in foil for the bowl. [attachment=2094:hookahbo...h_orange.jpg] By the way... coconuts tend to crack under great heat, but other than that they are good bowls haha
  11. When I first looked at the picture I thought the bowling pin was hollowed out and was the base... That would be sweet. Just thought I should throw that out there... haha
  12. QUOTE (kounter @ Mar 5 2008, 06:44 PM) in order to keep the pull at the same degree of difficulty, you have to match whatever you make to the normal hookah pull. (lots of math i will not do) the volume of water that must be displaced by the smoke in order for it to bubble is what im talking about. you have the 3/8 tube going into the water, about an inch. thats what determines how hard it is to pull. diffusers are good because it does not mess with the volume, it just separates it, thus more surface area on the bubbles, more cooling/filtration. the spiffy diagram with the screens works in theory, but that would have to fit into that one inch or so of water depth to get a normal pull. otherwise you have to have iron lungs to drag on it. the best thing i can come up with is to get 5-10 tiny tubes to split of your main one like normal to make them go deeper into the water. the total volume of the tubes combined would have to be equal to the "resting" volume of the regular tube. anyone follow that? Wouldn't that be basically the same as a diffuser or do I just not understand?
  13. QUOTE (Stealth @ Feb 29 2008, 02:44 AM) Oh no! That looks like Copper! aRe you insane!!11 But that seems like a very good idea. It wouldent have to be that massive though, and actually i would make the devider in between only have holes around the very sides, making the bubbles travel horrizontally through the water as opposed to just diffusing them. Yea I had thought of that before, but I figured it would just mean you would need to create more air pressure (aka hard pull). Does anyone know anything about stuff like that? I was also wondering if it would make a difference if rather than a perfectly horizontal divider, a slightly sloped divider was used so it would take advantage of the whole "air density/tendency to reach the surface" thing. [attachment=1159:hokahgram27.jpg] I think this might be something that just needs to be tested....
  14. WOW... that is what I call effort. Those are some sweet diagrams. The only problem I see with it is the fact that the water would fill up a lot of the stem . I suppose if it didn't enter at the center of the bottom , the stem could bend sooner and wouldnt fill up too much... I dont really know, but anyway this could be something really sweet to mess with.
  15. hmmmm why is that video blcoked due to porn? haha
