1.
I gotta start lookin too. I just moved here to Jacksonville from Utah and gotta find a store. So far no luck.
Make sure to check out Casbah in Avondale if you haven't already. They've been around for awhile and started up after the first gulf war. Big crowds on the weekends but very chill during the daytime, and they have an awesome beer selection on tap. The Saraha near the beaches is OK for a lounge, but Casbah beats it hands-down IMO. Not sure if they opened any good shops in Jax, but the Gazebo cafe in Arlington sells Fumari.
2.
It worked great and the funny part is everyone who saw us smoking ask what it was and if we're smoking NHT (Non-Hookah Tobacco).
No, that's par for South Beach. I take my mya acrylic, some af quicklights, and a cheap tin windcover when I head down there and it works well. Only real problem is having everyone passing by asking for a hit.
3. I keep a bunch of flavors around that I'll get quickly bored with/sick of to just smoke occasionally, but there's a few I never get bored with (like AF mint or Tangiers peach) that I try to buy in bulk. I try to rotate out other flavors like AF peach, etc. so I won't tire of them too quickly, but I always keep the two above stocked.
4.
here are types i would recommend http://www.hookah-sh...h-packages.html
Just to note: the hookahs you linked to are just H-S packages with nammor hoses. Some of them are eqyptians, some KM, and some rotators. That's a good site to order from but I think you meant to link this: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/c-522-khalil-mamoon-hookahs.html or this: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/c-241-mya-hookah-mya-saray-hookahs.html
5. Bought a standard Egyptian bowl from him. Transaction was arranged quickly, item was in great condition, and packing was really nice for such a small order. Would trade again.
6. Whenever I switch from Tangiers to another brand I always forget and overpack. I've only tried their lucid line, but it's pretty good for the price. I acclimate since it's extremely humid here but it doesn't take all that long. AF is hit and miss. Some flavors, like mint, peach, grape, bubblegum, and spearmint are pretty good. Others like mixed fruit, berry, etc. can be terrible. Though every brand has their "bad" flavors, AF tends to be good for the price most of the time. Nahkla is OK and cheap but it's kinda an acquired taste (though I'll pretty much always smoke their double apple if offered).
7. I tend to scrub the inside of mine with a long brush from HJ about once a week (I just use water though not soap), and change the water between sessions. Every month I'll polish my Pharonie but I don't really bother as much with the Amer since they don't seem so get dirty as easily.
8. I buy 1-2 a year, though I tend to buy bases and stems separately. Original hookah was a 'cheap' Egyptian that I actually bought for way more than it was worth at the time. Still have that one but it leaks like crazy so I just keep it around for decoration. After that my ex bought me a Mya bohemian. Eventually the stem fell apart so I bought a brass Turkish style (no purge valve) with a neat clear bohemian vase at an estate sale. Eventually that one died so I bought a new MYA stem from their website and a KM Amer stem. Now I have a Pharonie that I use mostly-exclusively apart from a mini MYA that I use for traveling.
9. Book of Eli was really good. Way less depressing than the Road

10. Other than smoother-feeling pull, the main reason I keep mine on the KM's is so the trays don't rattle. The loud bubbling doesn't bother me too much but the tray rattle drives me completely crazy. Especially on the pharonie.
11. I disagree with the comment above about restriction. When I use a diffuser the pull actually feels smoother to me, and without the draw feels like it comes more in spurts than anything else. I have one of the H-S diffusers and a few I made with ping-pong balls I cut up.
12. HH Key Lime... not their worst flavor (not that they have any 'good' flavors), but I ended up giving over half of it away since I couldn't get over the awful chemical taste. Anything by Rosetta. Possibly the worst brand out there. Fumari Cotton Candy. Tastes like Heinz 57 sauce. AF Berry. Someone told me this was a good flavor. Someone lies. Nak Apricot Also, Nak Melon = vomit-comet.
13. The H-S washable hose is very decent for a short-handled hose. Wider gauge than the AF Healthy Hose though a bit tighter pull than a Nammor, easy to clean (completely washable plastic), reasonable length, cheap to replace, and it's very light so it won't upset the balance on a tall hookah and is good for smoking at the computer. The downside is they're pretty ugly so I don't bring mine out when company's over, but for a daily workhorse I use them more often than my Nammor or homemade vinyl hose.
14. A tobacco shop near where I used to live had a few crappy Chinese hookahs and a bunch of Nak when I first started going there. Now they carry full lines of Nak, Java, AF, Nak Mizo, Fantasia, and Starbuzz. I'm always surprised by what they have in stock these days. The prices are a bit higher online but usually even out considering shipping costs. The shop near me though only carries Pharoahs and Hookah Hookah for like $25 per 250g so I never go there.
