  1. yeah I was wondering the same thing cus heating the aluminum releases gasses that you would inhale. and aluminum has been linked to Alzheimers
  2. chillin in a smokey haze

  3. I look forward to seeing you come up with a good recipe for this. Then i could smoke more with out having to worry about slowly killing myself or spending a load on the commercial stuff.
  4. This is quite beautiful I love the way you can see the smoke traveling the tubes. i would love to use glass. Can you heat and bend the glass for different designs? Have you tried incorporating an LED to make it glow?
  5. nice job what is that you are using to seal the stem and base. I was considering something similar. Good idea on the diffuser I like the different look. i'm curious how it will smoke when done.
  6. nice thread I didn't like the idea of using a shampoo bottle because of the prior soap. But similar is size was a 5 hour power bottle. i found that putting holes only at the bottom and about half of an inch up the bottom was better because the air would only come out the top holes and not use the entire bottle so with he holes lower you can put them deeper in the water increasing the their contact with it.
  7. cool idea and yeah if people go nuts with steam punk then it will get lame but i think we are along way away from that since you will only find this one if you search for them. Im kinda curious though how you got the copper to fit around the vase or if it was trial and error with many parts.
  8. ok well obviously stainless is the second best other than glass.I don't get why everyone is against copper. Look at your local building codes and you will see that the majority of pluming is copper and guess what water stays in it. Copper has been used in pots and is used just now it has a stainless coating on the food surface but the flame side is still exposed, guess what there are fumes coming off the copper then, and it would be the copper smoke that is harmfull. When using copper for the stem is not even going to reach a temperature where it will be released. As for the oxidation if you clean your hookah like you are supposed to then you will not have any issues with copper oxidation that may effect you not to mention that will not travel through the smoke any way. so unless your swallowing pennies all the time you will be ok with a copper stem.
  9. lol you guys are funny i only had to search throu3 3 pages to find this and it is because only "noobs" that will go more than a page in to find something to talk about. Maybe has something to do with the fact that you "pros" have nothing to talk about to bury it deep enough. If you look at the post prior to mine it was only December. BTW I have a nuub to use as a handle. Please.
  10. it is for the check valve it is not required if your using one hose if using multiples put some colored electrical tape on it so you can remember which one it is and who ever uses that hose needs to follow procedure and thumb the opening when not in use. No big. If it fell which end did it fall out of if it was the mouth piece then drop it back in and see if it comes out the bottom if it was the bottom the funnel that it would rest in is shot and it will no longer functions as a check. you can still use the hose as mentioned above. the way it would work is you inhale it lifts the ball to allow smoke to pass. some one else inhales it pulls the ball down closing that hose so no air leaks in.
  11. for starters this is a great idea and in the true spirit of the hookah it will be a great talking piece. I don't see why people are making such a big deal out of this. Ok for how to's I have a couple ideas and mostly have to do with the tools you have at hand. If you have a drill press that would be the easiest just make a corner out of some scrap wood and use cloth to tie it tightly to Meat Substitute. and use the drill press to very slowly drill through. if no drill press then try to mount the drill upside down so you have complete control of the MS and do the same being very carefull one i think may work is to sharpen a copper tube like in a pencil sharpener and place the other end in a drill and coat the tube with a nonstick spray and drill on. you can even try sliding it through and in the spirit of things maybe even using KY gel.
