I'm new to the whole hookah thing...i need help! my boyfriend came back from beirut and i told him i wanted a hookah so he got me one, along with apple tobacco, and coal. i admit, i don't know what i'm doing. he put it together for me and i tried to put the tobacco over a foil (cause the clay bowl's holes are wayyy to big) and put in the tobacco. Then i put a hot coal on top, but i get no smoke...just a bit of the taste. there are no leaks in the hookah. what am i doing wrong?? i would be most grateful to anyone that could give me some tips on what the heck i'm doing . i've read a lot of ppl's comments and everyone seems extremely experienced and now it's killing me that i've got this new toy and can't use it. Attila Posted January 17, 2006 Share Posted January 17, 2006 you have to place the tobacco straight into the bowl, and the foil comes on top of it, don't worry about the holes (assuming you have a normal bowl, the tobacco is cohesive enough to stay in the bowl). You have just do the following: 1. set up the hookah and check it has no leak somewhere 2. put the tobacco into the bowl (don't worry it won't fall into the hookah) 3. Place the foil top of the bowl and make some hole on it or you can use coal grill. 5. burn up the coal and put onto the foil or coal grill. 6. whait some minute for start heating the coal. 7. enjoy the smoking of hookah.
