Mya Saray Qt

Recommended Posts

Small, portable, very smokable! I LOVE mine. The little purge valve issue really doesn't bug me and it makes it alot easier to smoke *and clean* than my other hookahs! Did I meantion that they look nice too? biggrin.gif

This little guy is top notch for the price. If you want something portable, built like a tank, and smokes very well, the QT is for you. The only problems I have with the QT is the purge valve, which can be a little finicky at times and the way the ash tray is held down. The ash tray is held with the bowl grommet, which I fear can be burned with hot coals. There is a mod to hold the tray down in a different way if it bothers you. All in all this is a great little hookah for the price.

My favorite thing is that the Qt is built HEAVY. The seals around the base are massively ribbed, so there seems to be no question of the airtightness ever failing. The stem is made of such thick metal that I could use the stem as a weapon, if I felt so inclined. So, next time my neighbor's dog barks at me while I'm having a smoke...

Secondly, the Qt pulls easier than every other mini-hookah that I've used. However, it's easy to put too much water in the base, since it is quite small... but that's an easy adjustment to make.

My hose isn't as fancy as the one Tony has put on display; just wood ends and a black hose. Is that hose the one that came with the hookah?

My experience with my QT has been different than everyone else's. The stem may be "heavy duty" and while the glass is thick in most places (on mine anyways) it's much thinner where the bottom and side meet. A small knock would probably produce a broken base at least on mine.
I also have not found that they smoke as well as a larger hookah...I have to admit the extra height of a tangiers bowl has worked wonders for the smoke quality I have been getting, as it is now cooler and thicker...That few extra inches makes a difference.

My QT is air tight. Its built strong. Smokes amazing. The purge valve isnt really an issue for me. A good two long blows and the smoke is cleared. What does bother me though is the tray. Its poorly designed. Its more of a narrow bowl then a tray. If the coals get knocked the tray isnt gonna catch them. And if it does the coals might burn the bowl gromet which is what the tray is held down by. Terrible idea. Other then the tray everything is perfect. I find the qt very simple to wash and clean. Also having the stem go all the way to the top of the shaft instead of having the top shaft hollow would make it much easier to clean.

I agree with most that the QT is certainly not an end-all best hookah out there..

Here's my take on it:

pro's:

small and portable
VERY stable base
solid feel to the stem
smokes good

cons:

WAY too small of a tray
thin glass on the bottom of the base makes me nervous
sambookamax is absolutely correct; the stem is an absolute pain in the ass to clean, and need to be thoroughly soaked to get fully clean

Overall, I give this hookah a 7 out of 10...

Got my first one from Hookah-life and love it!...I have a 2hose rotator and a 21" single egyptian and I favor this one of all!

Sure it's small BUT it's built extremely well and great craftsmanship! Smokes perfect and I actually got a longer session with this than my 38" rotator!

Nice work! You will NOT be dissapointed!

Overall, I really liked my QT. It hit very well, the only thing that I didnt like was the fact that the tray was very small. Also, while taking my stem out I some how managed to break the top glass. Maybe it was a faulty base or not, i wasnt happy. I got ahold of hookah-shisha and they'll be sending me another base. But it is still a great little piece and im glad to have it as my first. Clean up was not a hassel, just a little work not that much.

I've had my QT for several months now and I think its built strong. If I do the coals and tobacco right, its smokes

pretty good. Sometimes the Purge valve is annoying when it sticks but lately its been a non issue. A blow or two

clears the smoke. The tray is small but It depends on how hard they are knocked over and just to be safe I use a

bakin pan underneath it. The tray grommet is covered by the Bowl so Im not worried about that. The stem is

removable and overall its easy to clean. One of these days I'm gonna go for a larger Mya perhaps an Acrylic one.

I got my MYA QT a few weeks ago from Southsmoke. I've smoked out of it about 3 or 4 times and its pretty solid. I've smoked out of plenty of egyptians, syrians, and arylics and this is comparable. I've smoked out of it with a phunnel and with the standard MYA bowl and its pretty solid. It's definitely a good investment if you can pick it up under 40.

My only beef and concern is the glass. Lots of people are saying the newer issues of the vase is thin and of poor quality. I talked to Southsmoke about it and they didn't receive any calls about broken vases etc. I did notice lots of air bubbles in my vase...a sure sign of weak glass. I really can't say anything until the thing breaks!

So far it's the best mini-hookah I've ever smoked from.

It is portable, pulls like a larger hookah, has enough stability to support hoses of almost any size, and has a larger tray than I'm used to on hookahs this short.

The base does look a little thin on the bottom.

All in all, I think it's great for it's size.

Amazing little pipe that smokes perfectly, i couldn't believe the difference between this in a low-end hookah, theres a reason these aren't 20 bucks, actually these are a steal for 45 well worth the money. they have high quality and you can tell just by holding the stem. First base broke, received new one. i couldn't believe the pull and smoke i was getting, finally a satisfying session. i cant see ever wanting another pipe, well i do like the acrylic too, maybe in the future but for now this pipe is amazing and im smoking every day smile.gif Edited by zeppyrkr

I ordered my Mya QT from shisha-world.com, those guys are amazing! Easily some of the cheapest prices for us Europeans and a large selection, but I digress. . .

With my QT I ordered three extra bowl, 2 auto-sealing hose adapters, some diffusers, a wind cover, and a luxury Mya hose:

A pic of the QT with its box:

and the QT in a 2 hose setup:

I've only ever owned a few cheap shisha so this was my first "branded" one. And WOW! Was I amazed! I used Japanese charcoal and AF mint. It was easily the best shisha experience I've had outside of Edware Road. Drawing on the QT was effortless, if it wasn't for the nicotine rush I could hardly tell I was smoking.

I'll talk a bit about the hose. The one that came with the shisha looks very durable. The luxury one I brought, as a second hose, has a very heavy, removable, Cloisonne handle - you could use that thing as a weapon! I'm sure even Bruce Lee would be impressed! But the actual hose part of it is identical to the one which came with the shisha and therefore both require the same amount of pull.

On the shisha I particularly like the silicon grommets, they're nice as squiggy and allow for a great airtight seal. The large seal around the glass base is ribbed and allows for a very strong connection between the stem and base. Maybe too strong, since it can be a bit hard to dismantle the shisha, but putting some water on the seal before attaching the stem allows the shisha to be dismantled with less effort. All the hose adapaters, including the one which came with the device (non auto sealing) can be screwed into the main body of the shisha and all have rubber washers so they make a really good fit. The purge value can be unscrewed from the main body of the hookah, and it too has a rubber washer. In terms of air tightness, this hookah is amazing . With most hookahs if you block the top of the stem and suck through the hose you can still draw a little air, but with the Mya QT you get NOTHING! Sucking only creates a vacuum! Some people have commented that the grommet on top of the stem holds down the ash tray and could get damaged if the ash tray becomes hot. I dont think this is nessesarily true, you dont have to push the grommets all the way down in order to put the pot on top. With this way there a few millimeters clearance from the ash tray and so no danger of damage.

There are some negatives to this shisha. As everyone has pointed out the purge value isn't very well located, you have to breathe out with a bit of force in order to clear the stale air. But it's not that big of a deal. I've also found that the bottom of the glass base is very thin, maybe only 2 mm thick. Some people have commented that their QT base shows signs of air bubbles within the glass, I haven't seen any.

Finally, I've noticed something which most people haven't mentioned. This is my first Mya saray shisha so I wasn't expecting to see what I did! The inside of the QT (and aparantly most Mya's) is very rough, it looks like sand. Here's a picture of the bottom of the stem:

and a pic of looking down from top, you can just about see the screw on downpipe:

I've heard people say that the rough texture hasn't affected their smoking experience. I haven't had the QT for long enough to comment. One thing I have noticed is that the rough insides make cleaning the QT with a brush quite difficult. The bristles on the brush will catch on the pockled surface. The good thing about the stem is that its made of brass, so it shouldn't rust, and will last a long time. It also make the shisha nice and heavy and therefore stable.

All in all, I'd say this would be an excellent hookah for anyone. If I could just have one hookah, something practical, gets-the-job-done, easy to put away and great for parties, this would be it! However if you are going to buy one, I'd say you're better off buying one in person as that way you can make sure there are no defects. Edited by adrock5150

I picked up my QT today from the local shop for $40. Its Orange which I have never seen before, including the stem and hose handles. Its a great lookin hookah (pics to come).

Smokes like a dream, thick thunder clouds the whole session. Very cool smoke, easy draw.

The hose is great, super flexable and pretty long also.

Over all 8/10 just because its only the 4th or 5th hookah I've smoked and cant rate it higher till I try more things....

DEF WORTH THE BUY!

Got mine a few weeks back and it's become my go-to pipe.

The pros and cons have pretty much been spelled out above. Yeah, the tray is too small; the base of the base seems thin, but with a protector it hasn't been an issue.

It hits very good, it cleans up easy, it's nicely compact and it looks good. Construction seems solid.

amazing pipe! 9/10
don't be fooled my its' diminutive stature!at 12 inches tall it pulls easier than my rotator and gives rippin clouds!
airtight as hell! this pipe proves you don't have to be 33 inches tall to be an excellent pipe, its portability and price are the reasons i have one inside and one in my trunk

this was my first hookah and it smoked great. very sturdy and small. maybe a little to small especially the tray, but overall if you want portable this is the best you can get. very thick clouds with quicklites and even bigger with natural coals. nammor hose helps even more. the overall feal of it is very strong and the stem is small but solid. the inside texture scared me at first but i guess they all have that rough "snad" like look and texture. i would definately advise people to get this as their first hookah or as beginners because it is very good and will last along time, plus it is very easy to set up becasue it only has the base and stem which fit in eachother perfectly and secure.

i am giving the Mya QT a 8.5/10 because i love it and gives me thick white clouds which is the only reason to smoke hookah...right? lol laugh.gif

Just lit up my QT for the first time about 30 minutes ago...all I can say is lots of bang for the buck! Like others have said, the purge valve is kind of weird, doesnt seem to purge right. I used Starbuzz blue mist and I am so happy with it right now! I get a deice deep hit one after another, its amazing. Next on my list is a Nammor Hose and I will be a gleaming camper after that!

All in all, I love this little guy! not that it matters, but the sound on this thing is nice, good tone to it haha. The dish is kind of small, but it isn't bothering me too much right now.

8.7/10

Just bought a MYA QT from my local headshop, using a med phunnel with Alamir cola, water and ice in the base smile.gif 3 Coco nara coals
I will agree with the pros and cons noted above, but i don't find the tray to small at all and also the base of mine is solid. Also, because the funnle flairs out a little at the bottom the coals don't get close to the grommet, so all is well.
Compared to my larger chinese hookah that uses an ice torrent, this thing is truely amazing and i would say replaces the other hookah. The larger downstem means alot more draw through the funnel, and these smoke clouds are friggen huge.

This is by far one of the best hookahs i've tried, and i think with a little adjustment with the funnel (smaller holes, two coals instead) i could get even crazier smoke clouds using my KM hose.
Another note, the purge IS weak, but it's the exact same as my larger hookah. No harm, i rarely purge anyways.

All in all, I give this thing a 9/10. The bowl it came with i would assume would work totally fine for a beginner, but it takes a little trial and error for even a pro to use a funnel, and we all know that's where the magic happens.

The smoke is so thick i can't see my monitor at all :|

quick update, my downsteam broke. The peice that screws in detached from the pipe...
So don't ever touch it.

i just recieved my mya QT from hookah-shisha.com and i love the little guy. ive been smoking hookah for a couple years now but this is the first one i have owned myself. everything arrived in excellent condition; the glass on my base seems plenty thick and only has one or two small bubbles (that i can see). the hose and bowl are black while the base is green. i was hoping everything would match but i can definitely live with this. the stem is unexpectedly heavy and polished like a mirror. all of the threaded connections are sealed with o-rings and the grommets are a nice gummy silicone so the hookah is air tight. the purge valve kinda sucks but i rarely purge and if i ever need to, i can just unscrew it a bit and it empties in no time. the tray is plenty big as long as you dont go tossing your coals around and the bowl grommet is pretty out of the way anyway. the bowl is a bit too deep; i just smoked almost 2 hours (romman ivory coast, golden quicklights), puffing pretty steadily and there was still a good bit of unburnt shisha on the bottom. the included tongs suck, they are just smooth flat metal with no teeth or shape to help grip the coal. the hose is fine. it isnt super nice but it gets the job done and is washable. the cleaning brush it came with also does a nice job. for $47 and change after shipping (and the hookahforum discount) i dont really see how you can do much better than this.

i'll probably update this with pictures and more thoughts once i get my small phunnel and natural coconut coals from hookahcompany.

update!

so i got my phunnel, shisha and coals from hookacompany and i am completely sold on this bowl. maybe i was doing something wrong, but romman tobacco in the standard mya bowl had a tendancy to be somewhat harsh and the nectarine flavor made everyone sick. right now i am smoking AF golden eskandarani apple out of my small phunnel with 2 golden coals and ice in the base and it is brilliant. fantastic flavor and the thickest smoke ive had out of my QT yet. im already debating if my premature upgrade to the KM Amer i just ordered is going to be worth it. While in Boston for a 6 day trip, I decided to pick one up at a market to smoke while I was in town and bring back as a small personal hookah because I'm not always interested in dragging my bigger Mya around.

I just love it!! Portable, extremely so with the cage carrying case, and still hits nearly as good as my Mya Acrylic.

And for only like $40USD, it's good and cheap and packs a good punch for the price.
