• A hookah is a water pipe that is used to smoke flavored tobacco

How does a Hookah Work

When you smoke a Hookah the tobacco does not actually burn. When you suck on a hookah you are forcing air down around the coal then through the tobacco heating it and making it smoke. The smoke then goes down the stem through the water, which cools the smoke making it smoother.

Types of Hookahs

• There are 2 main types of hookah pipe available today, modern hookahs and traditional hookahs.
• Hookah is the name commonly used in the U.S.A. whilst the name hubbly bubbly is used in South Africa and various other names used for the hookah around the world.
• Some Germans know the hookah by the name shisha, where as shisha is the term used in the U.S.A. for the flavoring that goes in the bowl of the hookah.

Traditional Hookahs

• These hookahs are typically from Egypt or Syria.

Modern Hookahs

• These hookahs are usually mass produced in China.
• An example of such would be Mya hookahs.
